Didn't realize there was a London, Canada and was trying to understand why they'd be flying a Dash-8 across the Atlantic... Learn something new every day!

Yup, London, Ontario, Canada. That's where the University of Western Ontario is located, the university where Sir Frederick Banting discovered Insulin in 1923, quite the contribution to humanity worldwide.

Probably someone travelling with the christmas tree sticking out of the trunk because it wouldn't fit in otherwise.

Wow I just realized this happened on Christmas day, minutes before I took WestJet 3410, another Dash-8. from YYZ to Quebec City! Never noticed this is so close to me, should've looked out the window :) Thanks for the work!

Nice visualisation, like the map style. Tnx for the vid again! Really like the btw vids, although lately I seem to have to have some issues with second line's of subtitles falling about 30 to 40% off the bottom of the screen when playing on the TV, this wasn't the case on earlier (< months) vids. Has there been any change in positioning? On my phone it's really low, touching the bottom, but not falling of btw.

It would be cool to play just a bit of the song YYZ at end or beginning so that there's no copyright strike.

That would be cool, maybe a quick redo with bass music? After all the bass in Morse code YYZ.

This aircraft Dash-8 sucks. Everytime it gets cold, down to -30°C here in CYXE, the censors of the doors keep saying the door is OPEN even we closed it. It has even made delays on some of our flights. We open the door, clean the censors and it still says that the door is open. It sometimes take about 30 minutes to get the censors to say the the door is closed. This plane is a pain in the ass.
yea, there is frost in the air and this is the only plane with shitty censors, never have issues with Boeing 737s, just this Dash-8. We clean the censors, but in less than a second, frost builds up on it.

It's such an appalling issue to hear about a Bombardier. I thought it would at least function adequately during the Canadian winters :(

Linshuo Zhang we even have to drain water from CRJs every night. Or it will freeze. -_-
@erichhartmann1

xTeddy _ What exactly is your job. It’s quite obvious that water will freeze in the CRJ’s if you leave it in overnight. That’s what happens to water when it’s left outside in the cold. Used to work on the Q300’s out in Calgary and never had that issue with the cargo doors giving incorrect warnings. If you wipe them down with water, it will freeze again. Could you give some more details?

Hmmm Did they really need to declare an emergency? More pan pan if you ask me
@escade2

Fair call. i would think that it would be very obvious if it were open. Controllability issues, pressurisation issues or vibration through airframe

In North America, an emergency is an emergency. Someone calling Mayday would be very serious and still uncommon. Pan pan is very rare.

If you forget to push the lock all the way in, you can be held accountable. When I went in for training for baggage unloading/loading they tell you that. MUST ALWAYS Double check.

I'm baffled that we're this far into the 21st century and so many controllers/pilots are still saying "souls on board" instead of _persons_ on board.
@Zizzily
6 жыл бұрын
Soulds on board is standard phraseology.
@Anonymous551656
6 жыл бұрын
Sure, but standard phraseology is improved and updated over time. "Persons" is perfectly acceptable phraseology as well, so there's no point in perpetuating the use of an obsolete word like 'souls'.
@Zizzily
6 жыл бұрын
No real reason not to use it, either.

Except the fact that a 'person' is something that exists, while a 'soul' is a relic of superstitious belief.
