And that's why when I die, I'm having all of my (healthy) organs donated.

My sister-in-law was a living donor for her best friend. She donated her kidney to her. Unfortunately, my SIL has had a lot of post-operative complications since she donated. She is very proud of what she did, and she has said she would do it again. Her friend was able to live to see her 2 little girls grow up.

6:20 I had this done when I was a kid. I'd crushed my finger playing and suffered an injury almost exactly like this kid. They wanted to pierce my fingernail but my finger hurt so bad I was convinced it was going to hurt like hell. It didn't. There was a little puff of smoke, a HUGE fountain of blood (well a lot bigger than I expected) and not only did it not hurt, the finger stopped hurting instantly. Now that was cool.

You only need ONE kidney. Please be a donor. Bone marrow, lung lobe, part of your liver, platelets ect. It's so important. If you won't donate alive, sign up to be an organ donor. Don't let the myths and lies stop you
@elizabethemami5673
7 жыл бұрын
No you don't. Educate yourself. Everyday there are live kidney donations and partial liver donations. And you can donate a lung lobe. And bone marrow, blood, plasma ect. Your basing information over being paranoid in life that you'll get in an accident. If that makes you sleep better at night and feel more ok about being selfish, then there you go lol. And unless that accident affects that kidney, you'll still be fine. And if it does, you have more problems to worry about

I've been a registered donor for years! I would donate while still alive if I was healthy enough but I'm not. It doesn't make sense to not be one.

You're not allowed to donate a kidney or part of your liver alive, unless you're part of the family (parents or siblings). At least in Germany it's not allowed. But you can donate bone marrow.
@elizabethemami5673

lavampirejesse That's just Germany. US is farther advanced when it comes to that. Anyone can donate to anyone. Even sometimes if they are incompatible (depending on circumstances). They have treatments to lower your antibodies, ect. Lots of stuff to try to make a transplant happen. Altruistic donors are also very important

Oh man, watching that fingernail bit really made me cringe. I had the metal end of a bungee chord snap back from across the bed of my truck and hit the very tip of my thumb. It cracked the nail a bit, but not enough to let out the pressure. I've never felt worse pain in my entire life. I couldn't really do anything with my hand until about a week later, when for some reason the nail cracked more and let out the pressure. Oh, sweet relief. I probably should have gone in and had them do something like they did for the kid, but I've never been to the doctor and the thought scared me more than the pain. It was a while ago, but I'm still very anxious around bungee chords now.

Irrelevant to the video but when I was 7 I was in a bad car crash and was in hospital for 2 months because I broke my back and had a lung removed and I broke all my ribs and my knee I also had metal plates put in my head to stop my brain from bleeding and inflaming. So yeah pretty lucky to be alive really!

I had my tonsils removed (childrens hospital new Orleans, la) when I was 6 and when I was in the recovery room I started coughing then my stitches must have came a loose cause I began choking on my own and blood my dad grabbed me threw me over his shoulder ran down the hallway to the nurses station and told them I was choking on blood they rushed me in the or and the doctors began trying to suck out the blood and try to restitch me back up and I believe I died because I can remember I was floating over my own body I can see everything the doctors was doing I can hear them talking. I seen them performing CPR on me. and when they finally brought me back they finished stitching me up. and when I was back in my room I was telling my dad what I saw I thought I was dreaming but I could tell them everything that happened my dad asked them did something happened that they need to tell him and they looked at him like they was confused he then said again did something happened to my daughter in the or that you all need to tell me. that's when they told him that my heart stopped and I stopped breathing for about five minutes. they asked him how did he know that something happened he told them what I told him and the doctors mouth dropped.

Poor people can work hard to improve their life, but they need good public health care and education to help them. What's the aim of the government if not to improve the life of the people? Unlike health care, the same high quality of education is not available to every young person in the UK, and universities are charging higher and higher fees now.

Mary Jane I'm not an expert, but you have two kidneys. As long as one is working correctly, everything's fine. But if both are somehow misfunctioning, you're dependent of a lot of medicine and machines.
@junbh2

I don't think they absolutely can't, but it wouldn't help him and it's a big surgery to remove them. They aren't actually hurting him, just not doing much. So they don't want to make the surgery much longer and more difficult for no reason, I think.
