From what she said about standby council in her pro se motions, Sarah Boone clearly doesn’t understand what standby council is! Standby council will not do the legal footwork for her, they are solely there to advise her on the law as questions arise pretrial (through filing motions, deposing witnesses, pretrial hearings, etc.) and throughout the actual trial proceedings (advising her on the proper way to phrase an objection, handle sidebars, etc.).

IMHO, I believe the judge is doing his best to insure that SB has a fair trial. Please cover the hearing on 8/5. Thank you, Peter for sharing your expertise with us.

So...she'll need to hire a mental health professional as an expert witness. She'll need to be evaluated by him/her regarding her probable defense of "battered spouse syndrome," then she'll need to question said professional in court. So weird!

The timelines are pretty quick as scheduled per the Judge. I think the Judge is doing everything he can to ensure a fair and speedy trial. Sarah has wasted time with her previous 8 lawyers that she deemed unsatisfactory! Sarah is also learning more about the judicial process and what she needs to submit to the court to get things done as her own defense attorney!!!

I still want to know how he got into the suitcase and why would he think that was a good idea? Next time I'll play hide and seek wirh my husband, I'll tell him to crawl down the washing machine. Then turn it on and he'll get clean while playing. Such a smart idea. 😅

🙋♀️ Howdy Peter and gang. Thank you for the breakdown on this super speedy reply from the courts. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope the schedule, and all the parameters she must follow, goes smoothly and we can get this darn thing over with! I know the victims are exhausted and ready to receive their justice. Well, I know for sure she’s not going to be another Darrell Brooks, but honestly I have no earthly idea how this is going to roll. Sarah is quite a unique humanoid. Have a groovy weekend. Appreciate you. 💜🖖

Interesting that you mention the printed transcript versus a digital one. I transcribe and have always sent .pdf files, never a paper copy, without issue. A colleague recently had a client request a printed transcript for the first time in, I think, three y ears, and it's such a rare thing that they don't even keep transcript binding supplies at the courthouse she works at. She came to our courthouse to use our stuff. But maybe it varies a lot from state to state.

As for standby counsel, what if she demands that counsel do things that counsel deems inappropriate? Will that counsel be bound to do whatever she wants?

Standby counsel is not required nor are they able to represent you in filing motions or actually lead the trial unless she all of a sudden wants to hire them. I'm not sure about FL laws but to my understanding most states allow you to basically halt the proceedings indicating she is now represented. It would be interesting to see if she eventually tries to do that a few days into her trial, when she realizes she doesn't understand trials (what she is allowed to bring, ask, or object to). That's why it's never advised to represent yourself even if you are a seasoned attorney. Plus being able to set up your defense from a perspective from an unbiased way is difficult to do when you're in the throws of it and personally involved. Take a special someone who actually can do it, but Suitcase Sarah is not one of them.
@TJ-so9xo

@@H37P5kY57Sarah will not be allowed to hire tye stand by counsel to represent her, that ship has sailed. Plus I don't think that could happen in any case. If you waive your right for counsel I don't think you can change your mind once the trial starts.

She is going to..1: use these files to find everyone who has said something she did not like and use it as prejudice against her. 2: Every defendant in jail is going to want the same treatment she is getting. Big worm hole coming in my opinion. She should be locked back in and ignored for the rest of her days.

It’s evident she wants to get experts that will take the stand to say she was an abused spouse . She is convinced she is innocent. No expert is going to agree to this because of the evidence in this case . All of her other lawyers tried to explain this to her but there is no moving her mindset so it’s imperative these paper trails exist in order to avoid a mistrial
