why do ships from the 1700's look better than the new ships
@Heikki_Finland

Because nowadays builders are smart enough to not make such vastly impractical ships. It shouldn't take 24 days to cross the Atlantic. I agree though, i like that adventurous look more than some billionaire businessman style ships.

Because all the wood used had to be fitted and formed neatly together so it would float now it's all fiber glass they spread or mold over a pieced together frame. It takes a lot less time the end result is an ugly fiberglass bass boat.or a welded metal bucket.

Although extremely majestic and beautiful, because of their size, they WERE used to transport extremely large treasure laden cargo.

Is this some in joke lost on me? It just sounds like you don't know what sailing under a flag means, nor what a privateer means. You can only sail under a flag you're registered under, and flying the black on this would be daft as it has 24 gun ports, and apparently only 4 guns. A privateer not only needs to register the ship but get a warrant from the crown. Two things you expressly cannot do if you steal it. Although if, somehow, you managed to legally obtain it and somehow make a time machine to go to the 1700's and become a privateer you'll be the slowest, most unarmed privateer in the history of the sea.

+aaron95cobra Good point, but a merchant ship isn't a pirate ship unless it's captured and kept by pirates.

+aaron95cobra Most Caribbean merchants would trade in calico, rum, sugar and so on - goods which were imperishable. This meant that speed wasn't of paramount importance and storage was the pinnacle of a merchant ship's value to its captain and crew... Pirates, therefore, preferred sloops or gunboats which were nimble, fast and had superior firepower and crew capacity in order to chase, outrun and outgun ships.

They should mass produce pirate boats, imagine owning a pirate ship, it be a lot cooler than owning a yacht

If I were a sailor I would see my galleon as my home Cuz not only am I a big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean but at the same time it's always been a dream of mine sail the high seas like,... just imagine the wind in your face and all you can hear is the sound of the Waves splashing around you and it's way better than flying cuz planes are overrated

Fuck a yacht, imagine owning a fucking galeon. It would be the ultimate flex. It would be a lot more work to sail it tho, would need a specialized crew and all.

A Spanish ship, pirate? Please let's go! The Spanish were never pirates! Anyone who knows history knows that. Those who speak of Spanish pirate ships, or are very ignorant or hate the Spanish very much.

*I WANT ONE* *NOW* (Edit) yeah I know I wouldn't be able to sail this by myself, I know it's just a merchant ship with only a few guns, not a super powerful and fast pirate ship, I also know pirates wouldn't use a ship this big and slow, BUT it's so beautiful!

Não esquecer que todos os piratas ou são britânicos ou franceses. Nunca existiu pirata/corsário português ou espanhol. Não com concessão das coroas.

Pirates didn't build their ships. They stole them. Also this is not a pirate ship.
