When putting a 2 liter bottle of water in your tank, check the flush on the second flush, when the tank has less water in it. When you add the bottle and flush right away, you are still using the full amount of water that the tank had originally. You might have improved the flush on that trial becuase the water is higher than it was with the original setting.

@@eftclipman8834 He's not wrong. The saran wrap covers the toilet, making a seal and you push on it applying pressure to the clog. A plunger creates a seal around the drain in the toilet and you push it down to apply pressure to the clog. It's the same fucking thing.

Yeah, literally in the ones with animals and pets, they are either in uncomfortable, small spaces, given products even from them that’s got the worst edges and can actually hurt them, or literal abusive solutions to things you should expect of an animal. Like there was one that was like “cat on the counter, taking your food. Put duct tape with the sticky facing up on the counter:” Or “cats are being cats and interested in plants? Stick poky toothpicks so that the cat learns to stay away.” No, they’ll get hurt possibly. Y'know it's funny because in Australia a plumber will charge you several hundred for changing a washer in your kitchen sinks handle. The worst part is that it doesn't even fix the problem, but that's what they decided was the problem, so that's what they did and now you need to hired them again for another 30min fix that doesn't do anything and they charge you several hundred for. After spending a couple thousand they might actually get around to fixing the issue with your kitchen sink, but by that point you might as well just fix it yourself. Because fucking hell I just wanted my toilet to stop spewing brackish water onto my bathroom floor, why are you fixing the sink, ffs!?

The baking soda drain cleaner actually works pretty well for minor buildup. I use it to unclog our kitchen sink from time to time. It won't work for bigger clogs without multiple applications, and even then, it's dicey. But for small jobs where you don't want to bust out the bucks for industrial drain cleaner, it works just fine.. :)

Another idea for the balloon drain stopper, it would work great to make a drain stopper for awkward sized drains that you can't find a stopper for. You could even get rid of the balloon and just cut out whatever you used inside it to form the plug

In my experience, at least most toilet fillers are adjustable so you can make it fill to a lower level and find the sweet spot of using just enough water to get a good flush
@ryanbard8555
4 жыл бұрын
Adjusting the fill height also changes the head pressure. Displacing water with something that takes up space horizontally is more effective for flushing, than simply reducing the water level in the tank, because the water will enter the bowl and jets with more velocity.

I once found a ladies wedding ring in the bathroom sink drain of a customer of mine. The couple had been fighting for over a year about the ring being lost. But after fixing the drain so it would drain properly, I asked the lady of the house if she was missing this ring and she started crying, first with exhaustion than with joy!!! I was friends with her husband and he told me about the arguments over the ring for years, so he was thankful that I didn't just plunge the sink, but I took the time to take the drain assembly apart and clean it. God is good. That ring cost $4000 originally, but it was priceless to this couple. 🙊🙈🙉

Handy tip for the plunger... after you get it to flush again, keep it in the clean water for a bit to wash it off before setting it aside. I only did one 'hack' in my life for plumbing. The chain broke in my toilet handle to valve. I have no idea what the proper term is. I called maintenance and then took a length of dental floss and used it to bridge between handle and valve. There was a nub of chain to actually tie the floss to and it worked! Not well but it worked. Kept things running till the maintenance guy arrived a week or so later.

You might also waste money with the hacks. A bottle of coke is like €2, a bottle of whatever Harpic or Bref it is I bought to get limescale off the toilet was like €3.50, but the hack uses up entire coke bottle, and the designated toilet-cleaner lasts 20 uses and works much better, too... 90% of the hacks would require me to go to the store and buy additional stuff, anyway. One problem with the saran wrap is that if the water us dirty, as is often the case with a plugged toilet is that this dirty water can get pushed up into the holes the clean water cones from when the toilet is flushed, thus contaminating a part of the system that is supposed to be only dealing with clean water.
