May 2024: To all those who gave the comment a huge thumbs-up, I'm sorry to say I honestly can't do it while still working in the hospital. There's too many issues to contend with, not the least of which are a) an employer with no sense of humor and b) former patients, some of whom are dangerously unstable. I need to do a complete series of all the real things I've seen/experienced as a painter/drywaller/contractor/carpenter/handyman small business owner, working for companies, and as a maintenance worker for a big hotel chain, a big real estate management company in Sioux Falls, and the biggest property management companies in the city I live in now, where I currently am employed, still doing what I love (handyman work... Been doing it full-time for 22 years this year), as well as own 33% of the company, its holdings and properties, where we own 62% of all the apartment buildings, commercial buildings, two strip malls, a Dollar Tree, a Hy-Vee, a brewery, a thrift store, a mall, two Dow Jones's, the ACE Hardware, and more, plus rental homes. And believe me... In 22 years of doing this work - which don't get me wrong, I love it and wouldn't want to, or even see myself doing anything else - I have seen some funny, weird, crazy, unheard of, out of the ordinary, straight from a Twilight Zone, horrible, disgusting, sexy, cute, ugly, and everything in between both ends of the spectrum... Things. Anything from an elderly couple in their 80's calling the front desk to say their TV wasn't working, then I go down to their hotel room to check it out, and both of them are completely naked. He answered the door in the buff, hard as a rock, she was sitting on the edge of the bed wearing nothing but a smile and some ta-ta's that faced the floor. I apologized and told them I could come back. He said no need, come on in and get it fixed. So I walked to the TV, he walked back over to her, stood in front of her, then all I could hear was some light moaning and some slurping. I started to chuckle, because in the corner of my eye, I see Granny giving Grandpa a hum job, and not a very fast one either. So again, I said, "if you two would like to finish, I understand, I'm married too. I can just come back". Once again they told me no need, they need the TV fixed so they can watch the news when they are done. So I turned my back to them, tried figuring out the problem, and then as I figured out what was wrong and was fixing it, I hear what sounded like them shuffling around, to which was followed with her letting out a big sigh and a moan, saying, "oh yes, daddy, that's where Mommy likes it". I just about pissed myself. I wanted to laugh, cry and puke all at the same time, but had to keep a straight face and be professional. As I turn to tell them I got it fixed, he's got her bent over the bed, drilling her from behind, driving it home like he's 18 again, as she was calling him Daddy and telling him to spank her like his whore. I told them I was done, it was fixed, they both looked over and thanked me, as if they were just playing a goddamn game of checkers. I hightailed it to the door. I got down to the front desk, told the lady (Erica) that was working that night, and she just laughed, then asked me if it was sexy. Which I told her "ahh hell no! What's wrong witchu?". Then I realized I left my screwdriver down in their room, which I left there. In fact, in fear of what they may have used it on, or in, I let housekeeping toss it in the trash the next morning. But it hasn't been all bad. I've called tenants to let them know I was on my way, and calling to make sure it was an okay time to come and do their work order, and have had good looking college girls in our rental homes, as well as older milfs answer the door in nothing but a bathrobe on with nothing on underneath, which is clear, since they don't usually have the front closed all the way, so I got a glimpse of the lips, or breasts, or in one sexy lady that was probably 50 something, that I got to see all of her front, from the breasts, to the landing patch she had, to the nice lips, because I had to fix her bathroom sink, and while I was, she said she needed to shower so she wasn't late for work. I told her I could step out and go do another work order and come back, she giggled and told me that she was sure that there isn't anything in her body I've not seen before, and that she was proud of her body and didn't care that I was there fixing the sink. Then she dropped her robe in front of me, and took a shower. The best part was when she was done, and opened the shower curtain just soaking wet, hair soaking wet, body glistening, etc. and she had one hell of a rocking body for her age. How she was single is beyond me to this day. Here it is 6 months later from that day, and she's still living there and single. So believe me, I've seen it all. Some good, some bad, some disgusting, and some... Everywhere in between. But I love my job, and I always have!

*Cold water to the face actually does bring people back, especially OD'ing people.* It kicks in their mammalian reflex, causing their body to require less oxygen and concentrate oxygen-rich blood where it's needed. It also provides a shock which releases adrenaline. Overall, if someone passes out and you're worried it's drug/alcohol related, a splash in the face will help them and won't hurt them ..as long as you're not drowning them. Just don't do it repeatedly unless it worked the first time, they passed back out, and it's been a few minutes since the first time. I've seen people bring opiate OD victims back by putting ice on their balls and crack.

I'm definitely one of those people that reacts when shit goes down and one of the funniest examples of this was when me and my cousin had just snuck back into my aunt's house after a successful night of driving around and looking at pretty houses (her parents are overly controlling, we have also snuck out to go to a laundromat if that tells you anything) we lit some incense in her room which was pretty small and the smoke alarm went off. We're both on her bed and she's STUNNED. FROZEN. Me? I LEPT off the bed, yanked a blanket off and fanned the smoke alarm. It only rang 3 times. My youngest cousin was the only one who woke up but he was easy to get back to bed. After she was like "how can I sleep now knowing that he would be the only one to wake up if the fire alarm went off?" I said "lightly" 🤣

Reminds me of the one time we came to a heroin addict lying on the street passed out. Here friends kept on pouring water on here ‚because she gets a little bit more awake then‘. And I was like ‚yeah thanks, but can you please step back und stop waterboarding my patient?‘ That woman was already choking und was dropping with her body temperature. We needed to warm her up afterwards😅

Can’t figure out a good vid to post this on, but thanks man. I had a traumatic hospital experience as a child and diagnosed ptsd ever since. This helps me be less frightened of first responders. “Let’s get you to the hospital so you can feel better, then go home,” is a beautiful concept. Thank you. I really mean it.

I know a few people with serious trauma from doctors and medical responders and yeah it's awful when sometimes things go either wrong or you have a very unaffectionate practitioner giving you care and making you feel unpleasant. I hope you can learn to ease that pain and realize that not all professionals or scenarios are the same. It's important both to find professionals who will be gentle and take care of you the right way you need them to, but to take care of yourself and your safety first no matter what.
