Tracey I have heard you mention having two lights when you can eventually afford it. I would like to say I think two lights are essential!! What happens if you light malfunctions for some reason!! You our done and can’t move forward. If you have 2 from the get go you can always use one. Backups are so important!!!!

To be honest, I'm sure she was nervous about it all anyways.... Especially since the teacher told her I was a former student and I had my on place now..... I mean, I remember my first paying client and I was a nervous wreck and it took me 6 hours..... But in my defense she wanted to go smoke every 5 minutes..... Which by then, I needed to smoke every 5 minutes also🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now, I don't smoke as of March 11th it will be a year!!!!! And I don't allow smoke breaks when getting your nails done anymore either.... I have people tell me because I have a no children allowed sign in my salon, that I'm losing business but in all honesty my nerves can't handle it and they won't set still if they're up running around trying to keep their children out of stuff..... Plus, let's be honest, those are usually one time clients anyways..... Being a retired nurse and starting this business for fun for myself because I love nails I want it to be relaxing for them and myself, if that makes.....

Could you use base gel for the layer on the natural nail? Or did she use two layers of fiber gel because it sticks to itself better?
@youngnailsinc

We haven't tried it with gel polish base. We would recommend fiber gel, the maniq base gel (thicker than maniq base for gel polish) or even our concealer base synergy gels. Just remember if you use the hard gel, you can't soak off.

Tracey, around the 10-minute mark, you mentioned when you were in salon that you would prep all 300 full coverage nails during your downtime. If I'm not mistaken, it's been quite a few years since you've worked at a salon, whereas full coverage nail tips have been on the market in the last few years. Half tips do not require prepping, so that can't be what you were talking about. Can you clarify???
@youngnailsinc
20 күн бұрын
She was just recommending that as something for techs to do now in salon if this is a service you offer.
@stevieTX
20 күн бұрын
@youngnailsinc But she said, "What I would do, when I was in salon, I would pre etch all of these fitting my down time..." Habib asked, looking shocked, "All 300 of these???" 😮 It may be a recommendation, but also spoke as if she had, as a matter of fact, did this when she was actively working in a salon. I'm not trying to downplay her expertise, and knowledge as she had provided some wonderful training for free. But when speaking of experience, it has to be genuine.
@youngnailsinc
20 күн бұрын
We understand. She's speaking in the conditional tense so hypothetically suggesting that this is something you might or should do in the future to save time when doing these services on clients. We have a great video on other time saving tips to do before a client comes in. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kZ6fq2iCeqCEdHo
@stevieTX
20 күн бұрын
@youngnailsinc Ummmm, there is no hypothetical, "conditional tense," nor in the sense of speaking. It is a deliberate sense of representing the personal context of experiencing the real-time knowledge of the passage of time in having to experience the procedure of having lived this experience. Yet, as the timeline reveals, it could not have been possible. Tracey said what she said, verbatim to what I posted. There were zero attempts to edit words throughout the video onto the words she said on my part. It's a documented footage of what she factually said. So, if this is what she said about prepping 300 full coverage tips, this is also what happened with hundreds of files, sanding bands, forms, etc??? Again, i'm not questioning her work history. However, this flawed statement, which is trying to be explained away as a "recommendation" when she stated what she did in the past (from her own words, and confirmed by Habib's questioning) experience, is concerning.

We always say prep should be about 2-5 minutes. Now that can be daunting, but when we say prep, we mean pushing back cuticles, using an e-file to remove shine and cuticles, cleaning with swipe and applying protein bond. Removing product before for that is a separate step and some clients will take longer if the have a lot of cuticles to work with. We like to say to focus on technique first and speed will come. Check out this video on things you can do to get faster before your client even comes in. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kZ6fq2iCeqCEdHo

Just wondering what you do about the little space on the side walls between the natural nail and the full cover tip, I can see a gap . Also what were the lines on his nails ?
@youngnailsinc
6 ай бұрын
A couple of things to keep in mind... when we film these videos, our cameras record in very high definition, so even the smallest gap looks larger on camera. When you are applying full cover tips, they are not like sculpting where you are able to completely customize the nail to fit perfectly to the natural nail. Tips are more of a "one size fits most" service and not every tip will fit every nail perfectly. If you need to, you can file the tip to fit it to the cuticle area and sidewalls. You want to make sure you don't get the product too close to the skin where it would touch, but if necessary, you can fill that space with a small amount of Fiber Gel or blend the tip to the nail and seal it with your gel polish. As for the lines on his thumb nail, he is very active and there is slight bruising from normal daily activities. As for the thumb, again, full cover tips are a one size fits most service. She did use the largest size possible but not every tip is going to fit every nail perfectly.

Frankly this doesn’t feel ‘real’, it feels like cheating that she was allowed to do a bunch of prep off screen. The ‘how long it takes’ videos seem like they’re most useful for techs like me who are fresh out of school and just starting out, trying to get our time down, but as a mobile nail tech I’m not gonna have the ability to prep my space and my tools for a specific person before they walk in. And a lot of my clients are going to be new to me. I do really appreciate the tips on how to save time with your regulars, and I do want to hear them? But I’m way more interested in seeing y’all do these ‘timed’ for the worst case scenario or a brand new client. I want to set realistic time goals for myself and see how the pros handle it.
@laranadesign4764

Film yourself doing a set from start to finish. Then watch it back later and timestamp your prep, application, finish file and then color/art. You will see your mistakes and learn. Every tech is different on speed due to skill level and the client. Generally for seasoned techs, 15 minute blocks for each stage. Most of my clients are repeating (except rare cases of covering for another tech) and that's normal. My prep includes removal of 80% of the old gel before sculpting the fill or rebalance (some are 2wk fills and others are 3-4wk rebalances).
@youngnailsinc

Thank you for the feedback. We do many different kinds of real time videos. For today’s, it was working on a full set of full cover tips on what would be a return client. This is to show a speed technique of writing down sizes for your clients so the next times they want or need tips you don’t need to spend time sizing. In the future, we can do videos as if they are brand new clients as well.😊
