The most dangerous part of the New Education Policy is the three-language formula, which is sure to cause severe irreparable damage to the development of this country in many crucial sectors. It will be a grave injustice to impose one more language on poor children studying in government schools who presently face callous discrimination on account of lack of adequate opportunities to have proficiency in English matching the level that the children of wealthy parents studying in elite schools effortlessly achieve. Can anyone point out a single nation in the whole world in which there is a compulsion for all its children to learn three languages? Many eminent scientists and scholars belonged to the countries that teach only one language to its children. We tend to forget that a language is only a tool for communication, and we thoughtlessly give more importance to the study of languages than they deserve. At the present level of technological advancement, powerful devices that provide instantaneous translation from one language to another are available. Hence, a person conversant with only one language will not be denied an opportunity to have access to the whole spectrum of knowledge available in the entire world. Nowadays, the students have to learn many concepts in science, technology, and humanities, and it would be foolhardy to waste the precious time required for attaining mastery in those subjects in learning to use another extra tool for communication. There is no denying that the three-language formula is a ploy to impose Hindi on non-Hindi speaking people covertly. If the three languages instead of two languages - mother tongue and English, are imposed on our children the future generation of this country would very much lag behind their counterparts in the advanced nations in their knowledge of science and technology. It is cruel to impose three languages on our young children. I can even cry from the mountain top that the three-language formula is anti-poor and anti-nation and has to be resisted at any cost; otherwise, we shall regret the blunder of its acceptance even in the near future.

But haven't seen any technological advance Nation teaching their children in a foreign language rather than their own mother tongue especially for the nation like India where english is hardly the mother tongue of even 1% of the total population of any state for that matter, and various study and research paper suggest that the education in the foreign language rather degrades the capacity of the information retained by the students making the education less efficient. What english education has given us is a head start in the 4th industrial revolution to become world leader in supplying mass labours and cyber coolies, and producing clerks like a brainless machine/robot unable to think critically and creatively in any direction of concern. Teaching in English where English is hardly a language of communication is a blunder and it's a crime against the nations potential. China, Germany, Japan, France have less diverse populace where India having 22 official language it's hard to have the medium of instruction and education in mother tongue but still it's not impossible. And nep clearly states that the 3 language system would be decided by the state government and a/c to the need and people of the area. It's not a hard written law I think 😃. Southern states Vs northern states. Hindi Vs southern language should be the least concern if any for this new NEP. And please refer to the link if possible before makeing a exegesis claim for a easy analysis.
@spasokan
4 жыл бұрын
@@tusharpandey858 At present, all Indians, including the Sundar Pichai of Google, had their school education only through English Medium. I want to ask one question to the conscience of every Indian, especially our politicians, VIPs, and all belonging to the rich and middle class. How many of you educate your children and grandchildren in schools teaching through your mother tongue? If NEP has prescribed that all children should compulsorily study through their mother tongue, I would have wholeheartedly welcomed it because it would have ensured equality and avoided the exploitation of the poor by the rich and influential who become richer by reserving high-salary jobs for their children studying through English Medium and forcing the children of poor students to have their education through their mother tongue. The NEP says, “Mother tongue as medium of instruction till class 5, wherever possible”. The rider “wherever possible” makes the whole sentence an exercise in deception. Already, it has been made clear that a student’s mother tongue or regional language would not be the Medium of instruction in Kendriya Vidyalaya. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was asked in an interview whether the private and public schools affiliated to the CBSE and the ISCE would be asked to mandatorily convert to teaching in the mother tongue only till class 5, and his answer was, “The beauty of this policy is flexibility.” You take it from me that this flexibility is going to perpetuate the present injustice of rich people cornering all benefits by English Medium Education and the poor becoming more miserable on account of the regional language medium continuing to be imposed on them.
@tusharpandey858
4 жыл бұрын
@@spasokan the difference between the rich and the poor and their education and the medium of communication are still apart and the quality gap of private and public education is in light-years. I won't argue that your concern are genuine but the pedagogical research suggests different from what is currently practised in the present education system. Given examples of Indian CEOs can never be the accomplishment of the Indian education in English it's the mere chance in million where even chances are for rich not for poor, as they are excluded from the elite on the basis of colonial language rather than the subject knowledge and skills. Communication shouldn't be above the skilled acquired by any student. The local company and even the international markets working here should be adaptive towards the local culture and language rather than being rigid towards their policy. The main concern is that the public school will be burdened with responsibility of providing more information to their children's without enhancing their present capability. I think implementation of this policy will be seen as a accomplishment rather than the policy itself. And my idea would be. Government should acquire the current private schools if possible like Finland did, and shouldn't allow the privatisation of educational institution Therefore the rich class would make sure that the local public school will have healthy and better conditions, Will also help in improving the condition of cast and creed and class division in the current social structure.

According to Article 343 English and Hindi are official business language. 8th schedule of India says about - 22 official languages of India. According to 2011 census Hindi is spoken among 44% of our country and less than 25% has hindi as mother tongue. But why there is not a single discussion about NEP in parliament? ! The mega change of structure of education system should be discussed with states and other experts since education comes under concurrent list. Where is the democratic way of solving the issue? !!

This discussion has made me to ponder over certain realities. The new education policy focuses on educating children in their mother tongue but the sad reality is most of the parents don't want their children to study their subjects in their mother tongue. Hence many private schools are mushrooming up. Is there any private school which exclusively imparts education in mother tongue? The answer is big no. Implementation of this policy is possible in letter and spirit if there is a transformation in minds of people that holistic understanding of a concept can happen in mother tongue. English is a skill not knowledge.

I feel this new approach is more scientific and logical. I feel students can easily learn the languages. As Hindi language and most of the Indian languages are related to Sanskrit as the Grammar is more over same. Advanced Countries like Germany, France, Spain, U.K and U.S.A are learning Sanskrit as this language is scientifically and logically proved to the Artificial Intelligence. Learning English should be more practical oriented. They should give importance for the communication skills. Now English language has changed a lot as it is a modern language. It starts adapting new vocabulary from other languages also. Now there are some sanskrit words which are added in English like Mantra. Western countries give a lot of respect to sanskrit and our Indian culture such as Yoga, Meditation etc. Let all of us accept this Gurukul Trend and let our young children get radiated in the global vibrant environment. During my school days even though I studied in English medium, I was not able to speak and express in English properly up-to the higher secondary school. All kids will not be able to understand English. There is a lot of inferior and superior complex among students for the modern language. During my school days students who had stylish attitude with western approach pick up English soon. There were many simple loyal students who were not getting an opportunity to pick up English. They were intelligent but with only one factor of language they lost many opportunities. I respect English but I worship our Indian Languages. They are very logical and the structure of Indian Aksharas are written as per the exact 100% pronunciation. Many Indian languages have good spiritual values in the poetry. You will never find these stuff in any Western languages. Westerners like our Indian languages and Indian culture. I love their punctuality, discipline etc. I feel the whole globe is related to brotherhood and the peace. we should respect and love each other like brothers and sisters. May the God bless our Country and let all of us lead a practical life. Jai Bharaat Maat Ki Jai, Jai Karnataka.

It should help children understand what a real life/world is and prepare them to grow up as strong and productive characters and personalities. They should be taught things they could value their whole lives. Education curriculum should not be just a plan for how many Books to teach or how many exams and when to conduct them. One important topic which is missing in this policy is lack of encouragement in Physical education and sports. There is no denying fact that India can produce abundace of world champions and olympians but sits at one of the lowest country to produce world class sportsman in terms of most populated country (china the most populated country produce most gold medals and champions coz of the sheer encouragement and resources provided at such early stages) merely due to lack of encouragement, opportunities and inadequate resources.

That's what we were doing during the gupta empire(golden age of India) and then we were attacked by invaders and all of our universities were burnt and today we are here. We need to spend much more on education but you can't cut defense budget. Remember education is important for a country as long as the country exists. If the country itself cease to exist then what is the need of education? So to make sure that our country remains existent we need armed force and a huge defense budget.

Has bjp compromised its founding principles for our nation and society? IF YES, THEN I WELCOME SUCH A DEVIATION. However, I doubt it! My starting point of analyzing this "vision" or policy document is to understand how this "vision" aligns with RSS-VHP designs for India? Overall, if they haven't given up their MANUVAAD / BRAHMANVAAD view of India and the world, I cannot believe that this education policy will rise above those narrow parochial views of UPPER CASTE HINDU PATRIARCHY. Starting from this point we need to analyze what has been said and what has NOT been said.
