It’s crazy that they haven’t capitalised on the popularity of the 30 inch, it seems to be either low stock or entirely out of stock in many stores, even just some new colours to freshen things up would’ve been an easy win, or better yet, an Erik Bickerstaffe signature model. I know it’s not Gretsch’s usual forte but these things would fly off the shelves. Although the same could be said for Fender, bring back the P90 Bass VI!

I appreciate them taking the "if it ain't broke" route with these, I would love to own one of the Baritone Jets (preferably without the Bigsby, though). Also, DiMarzio announced last week that they're making *essentially* a Super Distortion in Filter-tron size, which will finally solve the routing issues if you need to crank up the output/gain on these

As a metalhead, Gretsch actually are one of my favorites guitars. The hi-fi, hi-definition sound of a filtertron with a good overdrive are amazing. They not only look great, but there also a joy to play

Broham... get you a falcon!!! They are perfect for what you play!!! I love mine!! The great thing about a filtertron pickup... you cut through a mix like a hot knife through butter!! In my old band, I played a batch through a vox and my lead player played a les paul through a Marshall. That was a sonic feast for the ears. If you don't believe me, listen to black hole sun along with a ton of other soundgarden songs. Chris loved gretsch guitars

Gretsch is hands down my favorite guitar company outside of metal. They were my go to guitars for all of the non metal work I’ve done. I really wish they’d dip their toes into the metal space. Hell I might even be tempted to try and make a frankengretch with a different neck and some pickups I think it’d be sick. Classiest guitars on the market imo

Dude, ya gotta get a Gretsch! Classic good looks and nothing else sounds like them. Plus, FilterTrons are probably the only pickups that do their own thing and are also capable of doing convincing impersonations of classic Fender, Gibson, or even Rickenbacker tones. I personally prefer their single-cuts and have two of them. But any of their guitars are great. I have a few acquisitions and dispositions to do first but I’ll probably be adding to my Gretsch collection.

Why do so many guitars coming out have pale colored fretboards? Yes I realize it’s a preference but to me it makes them look dried out.
@agufish
8 ай бұрын
It's a lot easier for most Asian guitar factories to get laurel rather than rosewood, and laurel is generally a lighter wood. I'd love to see brands start to stain the fretboards to a darker color (assuming they can do it in a way where it doesn't come off on your fingers)
@ectosproductions6972

@@agufish Makes sense. I've seen *some* guitars with that lighter color that still have interesting grain and they look fine. Biggest disappointment for me was the new Ibanez Iceman guitars.. Who knows, maybe they'll look better in person!

Honestly, Gretsch could totally tap into the heavier guitar market, now that, thankfully, people are getting tired of black everything and are embracing sparkle finishes and vintage colors in heavier music. As much as I don’t really like a lot of modern metal, as it’s too produced and quantized, I do love that people are seemingly moving away from nothing but black guitars and boring finishes
