Enjoyed your commentary. I just acquired a 2005 V1 with 70,000 miles. All stock except for K&N air box setup and Borla stainless cat back exhaust installed by the previous owner. Great car. I've had a couple other LS powered cars like a 2005 Vette and a 2002 Camaro SS SLP 35th Ann car. These cars get a bad rep from guys who thrash their V's on a regular basis but left mostly stock they are a great daily driver. When driven hard the weak points will show up on most any car.

Truly appreciate it!! Yes I agree, these cars are amazing and yes you do have to put some money into them when it comes to maintenance in terms of wanting to drive the car hard. Mine is cammed but I didn’t short cut anything. I’ve also replaced just about every suspension bushing with polyurethane. My intent with the car is to be a great family car but also be very enjoyable and fun to throw around a road course or some fun on the street!

They need to be driven hard regardless of that rear end……just don’t burn rubber in a straight line and you are good.

I agree. I drive mine pretty aggressively most times. It doesn’t see a drag strip or do burnouts and such.

That interior is way different design than mine. 2013 CTS. Glad I got mine. It's funny your battery's in the front isn't it? A brother owned a 97 Seville Brown's Brother edition and the battery was underneath the back seat. Your csr has the battery in the front instead of the trunk or the back seat. I am not a fan of a stickshift. Glad I got an automatic. The head camera is an awesome tool to have.

How many V1 are left on the road? How can we determine this?
@revmatchrod8340

Honestly don’t know. I would estimate at least half of them are probably wrecked or gone. I don’t think there were too many built to begin with with the 1st generation.

@@revmatchrod8340 I've seen info online that GM made 8802 Gen 1 CTS-V's, with almost half of them being 2005 models. Less than 900 2007's. The exact info from GM must be out there somewhere.

Yeah these cars are becoming more rare with that estimate of 8802. For a little while I have been on the CTSV1 vs. the world page on FB and it seemed like we were losing 1 or 2 a day. I would say we may half that number left on the road. Mine often gets confused for being a V2 because of their popularity, and some don’t know that all Gen 1s came NA and manual only. I absolutely love mine and for reasons like that and the rarity factor makes it worth keeping in my opinion.

Now that I haven’t been driving long distances, and I have a beater car, lately I’ve been driving hard with it and honestly don’t look at the fuel economy ever since I got my Camry.
