He isnt a professional, the main problem isnt the solder balls itz the thermal paste under the heatspreader ON the cpu and rsx, it isnt the reball first they NEED to try if the thermalpaste is hard under the IHS of the chips, if it is he just put a new one on the die and also ontop as usual, No fuckin reball needed, but f this dosent work then reball but if he is reballing the chip without taking a look under the IHS then if it is broken he can reball 5 times in a row and the ps3 will still kick its bucket, and thats professional not thoes reball dudes here but they seem not to get what the REAL problem is, its the Thermal Compound under the IHS peace!

Można by się pokusić o zalanie w nowej płycie szczeliny pomiędzy płytą a obudową BGA w celu uszczelnienia i zapobieżenia utlenianiu.

Very nicely done! :) - Only thing I would mention, is that during my time fixing these at creativeIT, I discovered that the thermal paste between the IC and the IHS de-natures from the heat of a reflow or re-ball, removing the IHS and replacing the paste makes the PS3 whisper quiet, even when playing demanding games.. Side note: Don't remove the IHS prior to reflow/reball, the cell will survive the heat but the RSX may die.. The IHS helps absorb some of the heat and helps keep the chip ridgid.. :D

Don't bother. It's not the reballing but the reheating of the CPU that fixes it. Just heat it at 125 degr for 10 miniutes will have the same effect. It's not the connection to the board but the waver to the pins that's the problem.
@tillmanadkins713

@@sticky170 ROHS complient solder requires higher and higher temps to reflow each time you do that. It should be replaced with leaded solder in accordance with US Air Force Policies to insure substainment.
@sticky170
@@tillmanadkins713 you're missing my point. It is not the reflow oud the cpu contracts to the motherboard that fixes the problem. It's a cheap cpu and reheating the cpu temporarily fixes the internals. But ends up breaking again as it is a shitty quality to begin with.
@Djbiohazard1991
@@sticky170 Usually, there isn't any problem with the IC itself. The 7th gen game consoles all relied heavily on ROHS solder. Guess what? All of the consoles in that generation have issues, despite having different BGA IC's. It's usually a cold joint under the chip, which heating sometimes does "fix", but only for a little while. It's still the old solder that caused the issue. Reflowing in this case is a temporary fix, and reballing (what's shown in the video, and suggested by Tillman Adkins) is to replace the leadless solder, and replace it with leaded solder. This will break ROHS compliance, but it will give better than new results.

Just a heads up for anyone watching this video in 2018, Reballing does not fix this issue. It's a temporary band aid for a much bigger issue. The real issue is inside the chip itself. The chip gets permanently damaged due to excessive heat, caused by poor cooling. There is no fix for this. The only thing you can do is replace the thermal paste under the heatspreaders and hope that no permanent damage has been done to the chip.

@ExpressITpl

Pozdrawiam.
@michacyber5609

@jedrula77
Konieczny wręcz niezbędny warunek to idealne oczyszcenie przestrzeni pomiędzy PCB a obudową chipu. Inaczej reflow możne nic nie dać a narobić bałaganu. Taki chip ma określoną ilość takich cykli a samo czyszczenie ze starych kulek też go nagrzewa. Później wstawienie nowych i znów cykl tym razem mocniejszy. I później wlut.
