Hi Lory Wolfsong! Hope they help you! As I said in a previous comment I am currently working on a watercolor from West Virginia. I will post it soon. If you get a chance, please review the Rebelle 4 demos. They would still apply to 5, minus the new tools and options. Thank You very much for your time, Tom G.

Once again Tom - Thank you! There's a lot of gems in this video. My favorite is using the wet/dry brushes, then locking the transparency - so many possibilities.

Hi W M! Thanks again for the very kind words. I hope most artists can use these technique combinations for their own style and subject matter. Thanks again, Tom G.

Hi Studio Gambar Atistika! Rebelle 4 does not have mask transparent that is new for Rebelle 5. You can do a work around by selecting your mask area and then inverting the selection in the main drop down menu. Watch the following videos and you may get the idea. Thank you, Tom G. kzitem.info/news/bejne/pKGn4Hubin6Kipg kzitem.info/news/bejne/sm-vuW14cpGWooI

@@TheArtofTomGallovich why use Water as a mask when the precision used to create it is also the precision you paint ?

Hi @colorist_tommy, with any selected (protected) area you isolate for specific reasons. The way you isolate may vary, but it is what you will do with the protected areas is why they are protected. Mask - Opaque or Transparent, Selection Tool, Lock Transparent, and of course using Water as a mask. With any selected area may take some time to define, however I will be able to use any type of brush within that area. In this video I used a very light wash of gray and then used my Lock Transparency. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sm-vuW14cpGWooI (Start at about 12:00) Using clear water as a mask is an option to create a protected area within a selection. Good description why - kzitem.info/news/bejne/s32VnaaMpaWnf3o - (Start at 45:13 or Water Tool Chapter). I could use the selection tool first then fill with water but I would prefer to just paint with the water tool. When an area is protected I then could use large texture brushes such as my Sand Brush or Cloud Brushes (any random texture brush). These brushes would be very difficult to use in a precise way. Check this video out for a further explanation kzitem.info/news/bejne/kYVjqKeknpd_hIY - (Start at about 24:30). The major advantage of creating a clear coat of water is exactly just like traditional watercolors. You are creating an invisible barrier without adding any color first. But you are also defining your area where a spontaneous mix of colors will take place. Even with traditional watercolors you can use miskit (liquid), friskit (clear film - airbrush) masking tape, loosely placed tracing paper to protect from intentional brush spatters, or a controlled mix. Thanks for your time, Tom G.
