Your boat is a good one to fix with the carbon core because the fiberglass on the outside back is thick.Not all boats built that well.Mine was thin like a playing card so I put marine plywood in again.CHEERS from Here!

Thanks for the video. Good to see someone using CarbonCore. I am considering it for my "new" 1962 Dorcett runabout with a rotten transom core that was left uncovered outdoors for to long. The transom shape is a few complicated angles and a shape that would be hard to cut and fit with plywood. Tip: f you need to pour sideways again (16:00 min) take a small propane torch or heat gun and SLOWLY heat the funnel , as you bend it into a shape you like. It also works for PVC pipe bending. Just go slow with the heat as you gently bend into the finished shape. I did that to a long car oil funnel to make a 90 degree bend at the far end to get into a tight filler hole I could not see. Also: You can use 1/8" pin striping tape to mark your cut for the pipe flaring cut.

You are welcome and also thanks for the tips, that is a good idea. The corbon core getting harder after I mixed it faster than I thought. Other than that, I like the product. No more hearing vibrations on my transom now. Im sure you will like it for your transom replacement, too.

Great video! I am getting ready to do similar repair to my boat as well. I am curious as to how you were able to build up those fiberglass sidewalls inside the transom to make the mold. How did you access that and get the glass to adhere?
@NorCalOutdoor

Thanks. I just made it layer by layer. I cut paper to make the shapes I wanted, then cut the fiberglass to copy the shapes.

They have told me about the product and it seems to be effective but in my opinion a transom without good knees and stingers is not strong, it is my opinion I don't know if you checked yours, let me know your opinion since I am doing the floor of a checkmate and then I will do the transom

Im doing good, thanks. Hope you are doing good as well. You will like carbonbond. It is light and strong. Just remember it will get dry so fast. Better to have someone help you when you mix and pour it. Need to get that process done fast before it got dry.

On your side walls did you to do the fiberglass block all the way down? or did you just go down enough to do like a form? Also, did you wait for the main part to dry before you poured the sides? if so did it bond together?
@NorCalOutdoor

Yes, I did it all the way down. No, I didn't wait until the main side dried. I used a stick to make sure it went to the side when I poured it on the main side.
