Guys I like the fix on the trans pipes. You are the first ones to think out of the box. One important item to note when doing the repairs please make sure all existing parts and new used parts going back on the car are clean and painted. When I say painted I mean completely painted, please paint the doors, engine hood, etc. off the car. The only you tubers that have painted items off the vehicle was a rebuild of a ferrari. This is an extreamly nice car it deserves the appropriate care.

Good to see you're capping off all the lines with tape to keep grit/dirt out. It only takes a small amount to ruin a transmission/diff. I see some guys doing this stuff and not really taking this step. This missed step might be the cause of a component failure later on.

Cletus said that the weight reduction is not worth the aero losses as fast as this car will be. When you are filling your heat exchanger and cooling system, there is a tool that will suck the air out and allow that vacuum to suck in the coolant. I have one, I am an hour away, be glad to drive down and help you out.

Nice job guys.... I would of made a hard line out of aluminum/copper, instead of the rubber hose, so you dont have to replace the rubber in a couple years... But thats my opinion. When you guys decide to hard wire the 220V, please turn off the main, Id like to see you both down the road... an see the vett get done, shes sweet as heck, glad its working out an didnt have a ton of frame damage, shell be a keeper, cant believe parts are not easy to find for her, shes not that old !

I would highly recommend not using rubber hose in place of the aluminum cooler lines, the reason being you will never be able to service those rubber hoses or connections once they are covered up. Rubber deteriorates, whereas those aluminum lines never will. I would recommend trying to find somebody that can replicate the OE lines as closely as possible or waiting for a new or salvage pair to become available.
@CarWars
5 жыл бұрын
The thing is that there are rubber lines just a few feet down the line
@robnarley

@@CarWars Yeah, I see. It looks like maybe the front ones are accessible by taking the fender off, and the rear ones are accessible by taking out the wheel well liner. You do have a valid point in that they are probably low pressure lines, but for a worry free repair, I think all aluminum with no connections underneath the rocker panel is the way to go.
@robnarley

@@robnarley thank you, yeah we were considering that but I had aluminum lines welded before on a different car and after a little while I got a hairline crack in the weld and it took me a long time to figure out what's going on, so we didn't really want to risk the same situation. But yes a line with no connections would be ideal. Thank you for the info

You literally could have gotten thrown into a wall if your screwdriver slipped. And I was ready for it to, for your screwdriver to slip and you would've been done. Please look up online about people that got hit by high voltage, it's not pretty man. Can't wait for the rest of the build though!
