Correct distilled water + coolant. Coolant and or water wetter has anti corrosion properties. Surprised both Brent and Kyle didn't know that as its common beginner knowledge.
@Unsungboss8

That is correct. Tap water has impurities which then turn to gunk together with the Coolant ... Easiest is just flush once or twice and fill with straight 50/50 Premixed coolant .

Assuming it was a 10-1 engine from factory (came in many configurations so just picking a number as an example) the bore volume is 539.18cc and with the 10-1 makes the combustion chamber approx 53.918cc, add the extra 2mm of volume (11.89cc) to the combustion chamber (11.89+53.918) equals 65.808cc for the corrected combustion chamber with shorter rods. Re calculating compression ration of a cylindar volume 539.18cc to the corrected combustion chamber of 65.808cc you get about a 8.193-1 compression ratio. All numbers based on approximate assumptions but close enough to make the point of what 2mm difference in piston TDC height can make to compression ratio. Increasing from 8.2-1 to 10-1 will be very noticable as far as power figures go!!! Great success
@2LegitTooQuit

Great breakdown and calculations but no two motors were the same because even at the factory during assembly those numbers could be off by so many thousandths but still be within their tolerance specs so it’s hard to say an exact calculation unless stripped brand new and running the numbers/tolerances

The old compression ratio with the shorter rods was 8.4:1 The engine should now have 10:1 compression as factory on h22a 2.2L engine means a displacement of 550cc and with a compression ratio of 10:1 this gives a combustion chamber size of 55cc With an 87mm bore, 2mm shorter rods equal an extra cylinder volume of 11.9cc for both the displacement and combustion chamber size. 561.9cc / 66.9cc = 8.4:1 ratio It's going to be a whole different engine

You should run Water Wetter in your cooling system. It will stop the rust and lower the temperature a few degrees. You didn't mention freeze plugs and if they're steel water only will rust them out in a quickness. I only run brass freeze plugs for that reason.

@@zazzy1369 distilled water will become ionized by the various particulate inside the cooling loop already, thus also causing rust over time. If it was a sterile cooling loop, that would be true though -- I use distilled water in the cooling loop on my super beefy work computer that's water cooled & it has not caused any biological growth or other sediment to form even after a year of running 24/7 (I disassembled every component & washed it all with isopropyl alcohol before I filled it with distilled water, most people just add stuff to the water to kill growth though instead of doing what I did though lol)

Adding 0.080 thousands to the stroke or ultimately. 0.080 thousands to the Quench will make quite a difference given they use the same thickness head gasket.
