Apparently Joe Manganiello (who is too old to play any of the main characters anyway) has been advocating for one because he loves D&D and Dragonlance is based on D&D.

I also believe that Jensen Ackles is one of the prime candidates for Ares. I know everyone wants Tom Hardy and I can see why, but I feel like Jensen also has the acting capabilities to pull off the complexities of a character like Ares. I've seen him play characters like Dean Winchester, the Archangel Michael, and Jason Todd and master the complexities of each character. He's in his element when he plays a character who is enraged and bloodthirsty but also has a sense of arrogance with the terrifying strength to back it up. He knows how to portray rash, unthinking rage, but he also knows how to depict that sort of calm, simmering rage that makes Ares really calculating and dangerous. However, the thing that makes Jensen really stand out as the best actor to play the role is how he acts as a paternal figure. Even though Ares is a jackass for most of the time, he exudes an almost benevolent type of tough love or cares when it comes to his kids, which is more than what some of the other gods do for their kids. He's a douchebag to everyone else, but he actually does give a crap about his kids. I'd honestly say that he is the third-best godly parent after Poseidon and Hades. Also, Jensen has a really dry sense of humor in real life that he could adapt into his portrayal that would work well with the character. Plus, Mark Sheppard and Jensen spent 7.5 years acting together on Supernatural. I don't remember if Ares and Dionysus ever had screen time together, but if so, it would be easy for them to develop that chemistry since they had years of experience working together.

I know Seeker said he's prioritizing book portrayals over historical myths, which is wise, but if we can get a little bit of the greater mythos laced in then it's extra fun!

Book Dionysus definitely has that lurking under the surface. I wouldn't say any part of his personality resembles a fun-loving party boy in PJO, other than his taste for wine. Or, how about this new topic? Just for fun and a bit of a hypothetical, but recast the MCU, but if made in the mid-60s to early 80s. I got this topic when someone asked what if Adam West's Batman, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman and Christopher Reeve's Superman, crossover together and formed the Justice League? I mean think of all the possibilities. Also, creating such a project can actually change film history for good, especially when all the production comes to place, a series like this in the time period would require so many practical effects, matte paintings, multi-pass exposers, and whatever visuals possible. As for casting, this would lead to even more possible ways to influence movie history. So lets start of with Iron Man. If you're interested in this first casting I'll go further with more castings like Captain America, Hulk and Thor. So Iron Man: Tony Stark/Iron Man: I went with Charles Bronson. He's in his 40s at that time and I know he's known for playing in westerns as vigilante characters but maybe this time he can allow himself to break type-casting. James Rhodes/War Machine: I went with Sidney Poitier. Ever since he did In The Heat of The Night, he shoulds that he can be a leader and make friendship with others even when they don't agree. Happy Hogan: I went with a comedian for this role, Rodney Dangerfield. I know he's kniwn for only late night TV at that time, but I think if he did something like this at that time, he probably would be incredible, though he would need to get in shape for the role. I don't want the series to be humorless and I think this character can brighten up things. Pepper Potts: A hard one, but I went with Mareen O'Hara. I remember her from Miracle on 34th Street and The Parent Trap. But throughout most her career, she shows she can play characters that have the passion a character like Pepper Potts has. So there you have it, for right now. If anyone sees this as interesting, like and comment down below your thoughts and I'll continue and do Iron Man villians and then the other Avengers.

And again, the fatherly aspect of both the actor and the character just fit really well. I think if I saw him as Hermes, I would honestly cry from the emotional depth of him trying to be a decent father to Luke, but also being more aloof and guilt-ridden. (Truth be told, that would legitimately give me Dean Winchester vibes.) And even though, we rarely see Hermes get angry in the books besides The Last Olympian, I think that Jensen would be able to pull of the righteous fury of an Olympian god. Plus, whenever I pictured Hermes, I always thought of someone who had to be extremely attractive in order to have as many kids as he did in the books, and Jensen pretty much fits the bill. However, I also I know that at some point, possibly in 4-6 years, Jensen is going to reunite with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins to do a spin-off of Supernatural, and if the PJO series isn't set to come out until maybe next year or the year after next, that may interfere with the spin-off he's trying to do. But hey, who knows what'll happen. Maybe he can balance both or maybe he'll postpone SPN a few more years. Also, if he got casted as one god or the other, I feel like it would really skyrocket his fan base. Especially since it's not the first time Disney has tried to hire him on to a huge mainstream project of theirs.

@@gabis314 it would be amazing. I think Jared should be a Titan from his size alone, but perhaps one of the more reasonable ones like say Prometheus. I'm not really sure about Misha though. Hell, he would probably be a nymph or something. Honestly, besides the reasons I said in my previous comment, the only other reasons I want to see Jensen as Ares for is a) the action scenes especially the final showdown at the end of the first book, b) I really wanna see him in that leather jacket, and c) I wanna see him wearing those sunglasses inside the diner when he's talking to the trio, so that I can yell, "You know who wears sunglasses inside? Blind people and douchebags!" at my TV screen.

If we're doing the 'fantasy young adult novel' thing, as that seems to be a theme here (love it!), would you consider doing a Michael Vey casting? I know it's a little too close to Percy Jackson (lightning powered kids) to do right away, but PLEASE consider it for the future! Much love

I think so too. And even though, we haven't seen Bryan's fancast of Hermes yet, I feel like Jensen Ackles would be perfect for the role as Luke's father. I just feel like him being Hermes would get him a more prominent role throughout the show, which is something I would like to see. For Ares, I went with Vinnie Jones. In the Lightning Thief, he plays a menacing brute who could intimidate anyone, whereas he becomes more comedic as the series goes on. If anyone has seen Galavant (or his football career), they'll know he can make this work. I had Hugh Laurie as Mr. D. He has the perfect amount of sarcasm as well as being able to transition to threatening when required, as he showed for many years on House. With Chiron, I chose Kyle Chandler. He seems the perfect amount of compassion mixed with worry and the odd annoyance at Percy's antics. For Medusa, I chose Lucy Liu. She feels like she has the perfect voice for the role where she could lull you into a false sense of security as well as the ability to film a kick-ass fight scene. For Sally, I chose Mandy Moore. She just has the perfect amount of warmth and caring that would be required for the role. For Gabe, I chose Cary Elwes. He's definitely capable of going full sleazeball as we've seen in things like Stranger Things or Twister. I just get that vibe from his performances that he could nail this. And I didn't cast Luke because I don't want to cast any campers as I want entirely unknown faces.

Hephaestus, Kevin Durand. He's made a career of being muscle-head or military type roles in the past, but like in "The Strain" playing Fet or "Swamp Thing" playing Dr. Woodrue, he's moved on from such roles to play precisely what you need from the god of smiths; someone who gives off a sense of complete professional pride and work ethic in what expert work they do. He also has a hint of being creepy, maybe misanthropic, or maybe misunderstood and emotionally-guarded, all traits that better serve a portrayal of Hephaestus. And lastly, he's a big dude. He's big, intimidating, and he's no stranger to wearing prosthetics and heavy makeup for a role (like "X-Men Origins" or "Dark Angel"), so if they decide they want to make him more deformed/mangled, by all means they can go all out on it.

I like your idea with Ares, but feel like he might do a better job playing his Roman counterpart Mars. Ares, while being a force of nature and totally a victim (don't tell him I said that) of toxic masculinity doesn't really think things through like Tom Hardy as Ares might. If he thought things through completely, he likely wouldn't have stolen the lightning bolt and instead would have told Zeus ahead of time so that they could be more prepared. Good idea though. Instead, I'd like to offer (because I don't tear an idea down without offering an alternative) Mads Mikkelsen
