Around 1890, Ottomar Anschütz produced numerous versions of his Electrotachyscope besides the large (almost 5-foot in diameter) model often illustrated in books dealing with pre-cinema history. Some of these were relatively compact. It’s just a thought, but is it possible that these discs were created to go with one of his smaller Electrotachyscopes?

It's interesting that the Electrotachyscopes (automatic machine model) was at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and some of these discs look like they were taken at a 'Midway' of a State or World's Fair, maybe after 1895. More on all that in Parts 3 and 4 of this series of posts on The Optilogue.
