Merle Haggard speaks about how he feels about the terrible American Government right now and how it's time to take back our country. I agree with him 110%. Take a look.
Through his music and his words and his voice and his very presence, this man is a prophet, and his body of work is a gift for all eternity.

I agree with him, his logic and I wish I could have had the opportunity to tell him what he and his music meant, does and will always mean to me and what his work meant to my family. I hope my dad finally got to meet his hero in Heaven! I will try to sing every song Merle ever wrote, and will forever be inspired to continue writing my own style, just as he did. There. I did it!

Would love to know the date of this interview and what a great piece! I loved to see him not so reserved with his thoughts. Merle Haggard inspired me in many ways, but my song writing is pure and real and I think he had a lot to do with it and I never even knew it; just grew up playing and singing his tunes because they were solid perfection. The man was so pure and simple and deep and his delivery of a song was the smoothest there will EVER be. Listening to his voice always puts me at ease. I loved everything about him - the life he dealt with so humbly, yet was not proud of and did not boast to youngsters as though it were cool to be a criminal - therefore I had so much respect for him. I liked his quirks and the paranoia he proclaimed, the depth and the warmth and sincerity, paired with the perfect amount of foolishness. He was REAL. God now has all that T A L E N T in Heaven ! I will miss him and some say Willie is all we have left... and I adore him, but I say the Haggard sons are incredibly talented and hope we still can hear them. I spent many years traveling to Hag and Red Headed Stranger shows. Thanks for the music....especially the songs... Thanks for sharing this. God bless Merle Haggard and thank you for sending him to us!

+Ben H. Is the interview 10 years old? Regardless when it was, it is great to hear Merle Haggard questioning things. If Merle is talking about it, that tells you something. I like what he is saying. Makes you stop and think. I always loved his music because there was always a true story being told. People identified with him for that reason. He sang passionately in his songs right from the soul. That's why he is so great. He got across to the people who understood through that wonderful voice and his equally wonderful band. He's in Heaven now but people will play his songs forever. He's that good. It seems though he's talking recently because the world is still the same 10 yrs. later. Nothing changed. I think he's right about the poles shifting or mini ice-age. There were cataclysms before and I think we're due for another because I can't see how it can be fixed. Gone too far to bring back sanity. Peace, Merle Haggard. Love you.

+JD Webb Yes, the interview was in 2004. It just seems like it's more recent. I think it just goes to show our country made zero progress in ten years, considering the same topics Merle talks about then, still remain a problem today.

Benjamin Franklin said in reference to Government, "[...It] is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other." 6-28-1787 The sad joke is on us. We are not the victims of Bad Government, but the cause. Franklin's thoughts were well developed. There was a concern that the wealth of the Continent would lead to Greed (self-centered bs comes with that, btw). All the stuff where no one takes responsibility, and blames the other IS a symptom of the failure. Merle Haggard questioned all things. No one can correctly claim he was on one side or the other. He said he didn't Vote for Obama, but was disgusted by how he was disrespected. His deeply troubled, considerate thoughts (well-documented in his own voice) and a mind that questioned everything wasn't about the tribal crap tearing us apart today. Everybody is wrong. Everybody is the problem. He somehow knew THAT!

You seem to have an agenda you wish was accepted and clearly it isn't. His quote " The status quo doesn't want us to stand proud and tall...We are the "warriors" of the world and we will take our country back"...Clearly that is NOT what your POS POTUS Obama stated or even stands for...It isnt even remotely what Obama believes..Take your Libtard troll bullshit and move along...Don't disrespect a proud genuine true American patriot.
