Oh this was so satisfying to watch lol. I spend my life making bread, BUT butter scares me. And … Pantone lol! I’m gonna try it now… I’m inspired. Thank you 🫶 PS - that’s a beautiful rustic loaf! You killed it 🤘🏻

@@velocitygirl8551 Ahhhh thank you!! Loved this comment 💜 Butter takes literally no skill and if you can make bread you can do ANYTHING. 😉 umm…question - any guidance on how to tell when the bread is fully baked?

Bread freaks me out too. lol. I’m very confident with quick breads. I’ve made hard crust bread many times but just never have the confidence that it will turn out good. Practice practice practice! Thanks for your efforts. The butter looks like a fun project. Need to try.

@@janetp5956 I also lack confidence but you have the prescription for both of us - practice!! Let me know if you come across a recipe that you love! I’m going to keep working on it 😊

Very respectable bread! Im really dont think the butter exercise was worth it considering the cost of heavy cream but the bread definitely looked like a good recipe. Maybe flatten it out more next time to cook more evenly?

@@TuckerSP2011 Why, thank you! It wasn’t bad for a first go! Def need a solution to the cook time but I have a sneaking suspicion that solution is practice 😂 I agree - good to know how to make butter in a pinch but probably not something I’ll do regularly unless I have an excess of cream. What a good problem to have, too much cream 😉

Beautiful bread and buttter! ..😋 .. Can that buttermilk liquid be used for anything? Thanks! 🤗

@@bearpawz_ great question!! At that point, the “buttermilk” is basically just skim milk since we removed all the fat in the form of butter! So - I’ve heard that some people drink it and some just use it as they would milk. For it to act like store bought buttermilk (the thicker, kinda tangy stuff) it needs to be cultured. There are a few ways to do that (on the counter overnight … mixing in some cultured buttermilk and letting the bacteria grow…) but I’ve never done it! Maybe that’s my next project 😉

me thinks that the bread was over fermented... ie 5 days way too long... try a 1-2 days in the fridge... gummy bread = over fermented... hmmmm what kind of flour did you use?? Bread flour works nicely rather than "All Purpose"

@@8360365 I used bread flour but it didn’t even cross my mind that the fridge rest might’ve been the culprit! Great suggestion, thank you! Will try that. How do you know when your bread has cooked though? Perhaps an instant read is the best way for a beginner but I was questioning everything after it appeared “underdone”. I’m excited to try again with this suggestion, thank you!

@@StillwaterKitchen I'm sure your bread was cooked properly... gummy was the result of over fermentation... there is a poke test for the bread to tell when it is done... sorry, not sure how that works... When I made this bread I only let the bread rest over nite and I cooked it the next day... (Two days would probably work too... It it's gummy you know it's not) BTW I "Loved" your little laugh 🙌
