Thank you for this lively, erudite, occasionally amusing discussion, which has made me want not only to watch interviews with Hannah Arendt and occasionally read superficially about her in German newspapers, but to pick up her books. One topic that was mentioned only in passing and that interests me because it might explain my limited knowledge of Hannah Arendt, is her reception in Germany and the U.S. after the war. I (*1965) did not encounter Hannah Arendt at a North German high school (until grade 13), although I certainly read Kant, Scheler, Jasper and Heidegger in a 2-year philosophy course. In history and also in politics classes she did not appear to my recollection. I don't know if that has changed. At least today there are some high schools in Germany that are named after her.
