Hello and welcome back to High Altitude Homesteading. Thank you for being with us. In this video we give a 3 month update on our Gapeworm progress and how things are going. We also go over the signs and symptoms of Gapeworm, and what the best way is to correctly identify it in your chicken flock.
The top symptoms to look for include: Gasping, Wheezing, Trouble Breathing, Coughing, and Gaping. We discuss in this video how you can 100% identify Gapeworm in your chickens.
The medication we use to treat Gapeworm is Fenbendazole. We use a dosage of 3cc's of medication per GALLON of Water. We demonstrate in the video how, if you don't have a syringe handy, you can use a teaspoon to measure out 3cc's of medication (3cc's is roughly equal to 3/4 teaspoon). We get our dosing information from this website www.poultrydvm.com/condition/g....
Some measures you can take to help prevent Gapeworm include: adding Apple Cider Vinegar to your chickens water and adding Diatomaceous Earth to chickens food.
We discuss these things more in the video but that is a quick overview of symptoms, treatment, and prevention.
