My copy of Poets and Madmen has the polaroid referred to in the story underneath the disc tray. I thought that was pretty cool. I loved it when it came out but it hasn't aged very well. I think I was just so excited to have Jon back. Nothing screams "METAL" like a pastel pink cover with a mom sitting in her car, haha. Cheers Alan!

Nice, Alan. By the way, in my opinion Sodom are the only German and perhaps even worldwide Thrash pioneer band that have always remained true to themselves and their sound over the years and also have by far the most consistent and strongest catalog overall. And that despite various personnel changes. Your latest purchase from 2013 is no exception, even though it's not necessarily one of the highlights.

Solid haul man, congrats! An essential part of any metal collection, I just got a super clean original CD copy of Agent Orange today myself. Now I can split with my unplayable vinyl copy that I’ve not touched since my university years. I enjoy almost anything Candlemass has released, some more and some less. That particular EP has Mat Levens on vocals and I like all 4 songs on it, hope you do too🤘🏻Sleeping Giant is awesome.

Seems CDs are very high in demand again due to well, vinyl being unreasonably costly these days… which in turn will also drive up the cost of those digital coasters. Interesting pickups, never thought I'd see the day I see Alan hold up a Rise Against CD, yet here we are haha. Death Thy Lover is okay, but wouldn't be my #1 go to listen by the band and Mats Levin is probably third place for me as choice for vocalists, but for the price you got it for worth the pickup.

The Motörhead Live in Hamburg is my go-to live album by the band, great, energetic show with a fantastic setlist. M-16 is one of the best in their whole catalogue except for the "Surfin´ Bird" cover. I think I have never seen a complete intact copy of the Nasty Savage EP, it always has a cutout, a holepunch or a sawmark. Mine had a cutout when I bought it back in the early 90s... and it was sealed, hahaha... They must have produced them like that! A question: I´m not a native speaker as you know... does the word "sealed" have anything to do with the band Riot??? Hahahaha...

Tior the Mighty seals all metal vinyl at the pressing plant :) Agreed on the live Hamberg show- great sound, great set list, great crowd noise/interaction. Much better than the other one I got (the 30th aniv show), though it's not bad.

I was not expecting Alan to show a Rise Against album. They are my 2nd favorite band of all time and that album, Revolutions Per Minute, is one of their best. RPM10 is the 10th anniversary reissue and it's kinda cool to hear the demos as bonus material but if you already have the album I don't think the demos are worth it to pick up this release. Edit: Also, for anyone not familiar with Rise Against they are a blend of melodic hardcore, hardcore punk, and pop punk ffo Bad Religion, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Ramones, Nirvana, and AFI.

Bad Religion is a good comparison (there's a band I need to revisit). They also remind me a little bit of ANTI-FLAG circa FOR BLOOD AND EMPIRE. I got copies of a few RISE AGAINST albums from a friend years ago and liked this one and SIREN SONGS OF THE COUNTER CULTURE.

I have a few of their "jams". Being so far removed from society, literally out in the middle of nowhere, the standards for what constitutes " Rock music" is real blurry. If it has an electric, distorted guitar in it, I'll give it a go. Many teenage nights around an impromptu fire sitting on the back of tailgates playing Motley Crue, Cannibal Corpse, Nirvana and CCR. Hillbilly. No connection with what is happening in the developing scene's of music genre's, so why pretend?
