Yes it is raw, the only processing was adjusting volume and panning

I was looking into some akg p170 "pair". I was wondering if it's the same thing as stereo matched pair?
@stuff.church

A matched pair is just tested together to make sure they have the same response. They are not always better

That's an awesome sound, I've tried a single mic a few times but never a matched pair. Sometimes just going into a PA doesn't give you the "acoustic" sound.

I really like how they sound on the finger picking but somehow really didn’t like the strummed at all! The strummed sounded better just on the bridge mic than on stereo. I got quite muddy but without warmth in the lows... but I can imagine they’d sound amazing with older strings ;)

just bought these and i can't get a loud enough sound from my guitar without turning the gain up and getting lots of noise. anything i am missing here? is your room just extremely quiet or is your guitar really loud? my guitar is kind of quiet, a vintage yamaha

@@noahvogt844 i ended up returning them and getting a microphone with much lower self noise, the lct 440. It has a self noise of 7db whereas these lct 040's had self noise of 20db. I also had to let my nails grow and play my guitar a little louder and also move to a room where the noise is quieter. I downloaded a sound meter app and measured the noise of my environment, the quietest i can get is about 25-28 db of noise and i find that to get good results. So quieter mic, quieter environment, louder playing

Be nice to see you do a comparison of your condenser mics using the typical X-Y set-up? The way you set up for this video, you really didn't need a matched pair at all. If you have a matched pair, then the, X-Y is a far simpler set-up to get right. Also, let's face it, a lot of folks won't have the resources to spend money on instrument mics, very nice as they are. Be interesting to see the same test you did in this video using ye oldie industry standard Shure SM58 dynamic vocal mics (or possibly SM57s).

I tried x-y but couldn’t get the stereo spread as wide as I wanted, I prefer this set up for acoustic, but to each his own. Yes, I didn’t need a matched pair for this set up, but since it was the same price as 2 singles, there was no reason not to get it. I’d love to do a comparison with 2 sm57s.

@@stuff.church Great response! Love your videos, you're keeping this old Jesus freak buzzard in jolly old England on his toes! I'm hosting a weekly prayer meet via Zoom; but I used to be part of a shoe-string studio ministry in N. California during the Jesus Movement, (early 1970s). Now I can do a video and publish it via KZitem by tea-break time, something that just on audio used to take 3 of us a week to get out! Glory to Jesus!
