That wasn't supposed to sound critical of the people, just of the rehab. I've been to one 4.5 years ago and while it's a mistake to ever say you're 'cured' I haven't had any relapses to date. To be honest it had to work for me as it was very expensive and I just couldn't afford to let my parents down, they couldn't barely afford it once let alone 23 times. I've paid them back. They didn't want the money they're just happy but I wanted to for me.

I think one of the main things that separates Patrick from a lot of the guests is that Patrick has a support system that many don’t. Sounds like he just liked to party, and basically took the party too far. A lot of times we forget that all of this type of behavior Comes with a ton of dopamine and feels great in the moment, this guy just took it overboard, and eventually when he wanted to quit, he had a career and a loving family to fall back on.

When he talked about all the recovered addicts at his wedding it gave me hope.. it’s something I’ll be thinking about today it is possible! I’ve been dependant on opioids for twenty years, I’d do anything to get into a detox or rehab but up here in Canada it’s unaffordable and unavailable to me.. I’ve done cold turkey three times in the past five years, the last time off suboxone almost killed me so if there’s ever a next time it has to be under medical supervision like detox.. sometimes I fell like it will never happen, but hearing these stories of recovery make me happy and believe there is always hope!! SO proud of this guy!!

I’m sorry I don’t mean to be a dick, but I’m in Canada too, and I’ve also been opiate dependant for 20+ years. Thing is, for 10+ of those I was on methadone, and during that time I was able to get my life back in order, get 2 diplomas and 1 degree, and set my self up with a career and a future Are you not able to live a relatively “normal” life while on suboxone? It’s not like you’re out looking for drugs or money every day. Your life while on suboxone should be far removed from the life of an addict using street drugs still

I had 27 years of using heroin, crack, meth, all of it. And most of the people who loved me thought maybe I was one of those unfortunates that the recovery community speaks of who just can't and won't stop using. Through it all, I had my husband, who never gave up. No matter what I did, how long I disappeared, how much money I stole, etc, all the things addicts do, he stayed waiting for me to find my way out. And I did. It's been over 6 1/2 years now of sobriety and it's beautiful! And I truly believe I would be dead, in jail, or completely insane somewhere if he wasn't by my side, giving me unconditional love through it all. God put him in my life as my guardian angel. So Patrick has his Nancy, I have my Mark. Don't ever give up if you're feeling hopeless. There's always a way. There are good people out there, like Patrick & Mark who would help you find help if you need it. God is good ♥️

Patrick you're awesome. A year ago I started taking the 12 steps seriously and got sober and you honestly helped me immensely. The last day of my last spree I sat on my sofa, having finally come clean to my friends and family about the extent of my problem, and cried like a blubbering idiot while watching every one of your videos. I watched SWU loads in those next few months and would always default to your videos when I needed some identification and you always made me feel better. Thank you so much and congratulations on your 2 years !

Patrick you bought me to tears, not everyone dealing with addiction is able to overcome and still gets to have a great life. You my brother escaped a very hard life and even death ! And I’m so ecstatic for you. May you live a healthy, wonderful life with your bestfriend! I’m so proud of you.

Congrats to you for being sober. AND CONGRATS TO MARK, after so sad stories and deaths of the people you interviewed, you need a positive story. I hope that this story will make some of your negative days seem worth it.

It's important to remember that Mark is a hugely successful photographer. He has some serious pedigree behind him and would be highly sought after. Instead of making millions with Apple, Google, Facebook etc., Mark is doing this. I don't agree with him always, especially the giving addicts money thing, but that's okay. We don't always have to agree on everything to be friendly, appreciative, and respectful. I am grateful for Mark's work with this channel, I think the world is better off for it. And while this might not be the most lucrative path for him, I am sure it's the most enriching, despite it being this insane rollercoaster. We know this comes with a lot of sacrifices. We love ya' Mark.

MESSAGE for Mark -- you must feel elated to hear your interview was the impetus for this man's climb out of addiction! What a great thing! One take away is that recovery HAS to start from within each person. This is in contrast to Rebecca and many others you interview... guard yourself and your heart from the vultures...

You do know that Rebecca suffers from a mental illness? Not that easy to even start the proces of doing the right thing when suffering with a mental illness and all alone. Patrick has great people around him, which helps too.

@@tmusa2002 Bipolar disorder. Look up the interview that has cross dresser in the title, that's Rebecca fresh out of hospital and on medication. In my opinion that is the most sane Rebecca and is nothing like the usual we get to see

The shocking thing for me is Patrick seams so normal and got it all together , I would never guess in a million years this drug addiction got to him , the point I’m trying to make is there must be thousands of what I would call normal people who can hide this The new car and big house yes we’re all ok La La La , then behind closed door the demons come out. Great interview
