Jessica is such a badass drummer. She just nails everything they try. 🙌

Those toms sound fantastic! Great performance and great explanation of phase relationships.

This was the song that got me into them and is still one of my absolute favourites from them, it's definitely one of Dolmayan's best and this mix sounds just as killer. Great job, guys

My favorite part of this series is how you make the drum samples available for free. I just layered your Nirvana drum samples in with a Steven Slate drum kit and got easily the best "fake" drum sound I've ever had.

Definatly neded my headphones to hear lowend/details. Thanks for showing the in-phase vs out-of-phase to hear the difference. Black Sabbath - War Pigs has got some epic drums if you fancy a look at that

great work! would love to something by modest mouse please. either their debut, good news, or we were dead. the drums on their debut have really grown on me for whatever reason. they’re my favorite 90s post-hardcore/emo/indie drums .

How about some punk drums? “Heavy Metal Winner” by Consumed, or something from the first Ramones album?

Please talk about how you tune the drums in this series. I love these videos, but feel that's a crucially omitted factor.

suggestion for future recreation - Beach Boys "Do It Again". Oddly similar to G.Clinton's "Atomic Dog". One hella processed, other reverse (perhaps?)

Please do Siempre fuiste Mi Amor by GIT! They were an argentinian band from the 80s. The snare sound on that record is insane.

How does everyone get these drum parts wrong??? The parts at the beginning of each verse are alternating hi hat and snare not both hands on the hi hat.

And before anyone thinks they know better, watch and listen to the SOAD video. Particularly the beginning of the second verse. It shows the drummer playing as I described. You also hear the lighter snare notes throughout whereas she only hits the hi hats

if you’re gonna be a loudmouth about it, you should look up the isolated drum track on youtube 😆 he for sure plays the beat you’re talking about live but it’s 100% not on the record. theres also a clear punch-in during the verses, which leads me to believe someone had him change the drum beat to hi-hats only.

The overall performance is incredible, truly impressive! However, I must admit that I'm not a fan of the isolated sound of the kick drum. Does anyone else feel the same?

Curious why Zildjian Ks are used for just about every video in this series even though John Dolmayan exclusively plays Paiste

Maybe it’s what they have in the studio, like that old Gretsch kit, or the Ludwig Vistalites?
@TheJargonKing

@@joermnyc true, that would be the case for most studios, but you'd think that since this one has connections to an instrument dealer website, they could use that as means to get something else to use, even if just for one video.

this seems to be some quick mixing experiment, with the phasing, the significant timing issues and the thin sound… still okay to watch.
