If I have upper rectus abdominis muscle trigger points from them being overactive, what other muscles can I work on aside from releasing the trigger points?

I'd advise speaking to a physiotherapist for a proper assessment and diagnosis. There could be a lot of different reasons for them being tight. For example, some people tend to work on their abdominals a lot but neglect to strengthen their back and spinal extensors. If that is causing issues in your case, you may find strengthening your back helps (exercises like romanian deadlifts, hyperextensions, Jefferson curls etc). I'd definitely find a good physio first though, as only they will be able to accurately diagnose the issue, since you would need a physical assessment to diagnose something like that.
