It's sad that the Chapter basically enforces you to rush through it though, especially since it is such a cool change of pace. One moment you're in a big city robbing a bank, to being washed up on an island somewhere near Cuba. If there had been more missions for the Chapter, maybe 5, and increased the area to explore, it would've been a more memorable chapter. But in its current state, it's just lame rushing through it again and again.

If you think chapter 5 is filler, then you’re really bad at story comprehension. Chapter 5 was needed to prove Dutch’s arc as “fully gone mad”. Without chapter 5, chapter 6 would make no sense because the change would’ve been way too sudden in chapter 6. Chapter 5 provided the change of setting Dutch was asking for (tropical island), which showed Dutch as inconsistent and suspicious, the part where he killed the old lady proved how he’s thirsty for blood, and hell hath no fury where he admitted to enjoying killing soldiers proved his complete descent. Chapter 5 is about Dutch Van Der Linde, and is 100% necessary for his arc as a whole

@@slicedolives9902 mass empathy was rather new back then, and only recently people started living long lives on average. This meant that war/death did not inherently scare people as much as it does now. Not saying it didn't but people were more willing in mass to both kill others and possibly get themselves killed.

Guarma has grown on me because of how absolutely insane it is. When the game released, people were too quick to judge this chapter and considered it filler. However, I think it's one of the most important moments in the game. It's some serious Hours of Darkness type thing. Outlaws put in a place they don't belong in, in a war that isn't theirs, in an extremely hostile environment. Arthur's TB gets worse, that gang struggles to stay alive, and Dutch fully devolves into his madness. Guarma's environment was a pure eat or be eaten world, those who could cause the most violence would win, and that's what they did. People also don't realize that during their return to America, Micah realizes Dutch is in a poor mental health state (check out his facial expression when Dutch says he wants to keep robbing causing chaos one "last" time) and decides to make use of it in order to survive (hence why he rats out the gang as soon as he returns, as revealed by Milton). *I copied this reply of mine to put it here*
