I have a faint memory of this playing as I lay outside in the warm sun & mom inside caring for my baby brother. Dad was in the air force guessing the year about 1949-1950. I'm not sure where we were then either. I'm almost 78 & brother in now 76. Beautiful song, moving.

For 22 years the sign off of my fathers country radio station played This version of Peace in the Valley. I had not thought of it in years. One night out of the blue I could not sleep and thought about this song and decided that part of my day would start with this song as well as end with it. It played such a large part of days past that held less stress and chaos.

+Joseph Meece Oh my Lord. First, thank you for your service..... and your sacrifice.... and I pray that my Heavenly Father watch over you and hold you in His hand. May He fill your heart to overflowing with His love and His presence. As I get older I am reminded that my time left grows shorter by the day, but I know for certain that when I leave this world, this life, I will go home.... to my real home, where I will see Him face to face and He will say welcome home my child. I am drawn at times to the struggle inside me.... that of wanting to stay here and at the same time longing to leave. I have never done much with my life, but I know for certain that Jesus died for me.... me. And the trials and test of this life won't amount to a hill of beans when it's all said and done. I wish you God's grace my brother and ask that you put your faith in Him...... He will not fail you....

+Herb Houston Thank you for your support. The Lord will protect us if we ask Him. I read the King James 4 times, the NIV once and for a gift our Pastor gave me the Common English Bible. I find in the CEB they don't capitalize the pronoun for Jesus or God - aka He, His etc. To tell the truth for someone that is first time reading the Bible the CEB would be good but for faith missions I go with the King James Bible..

I heard this song by Red when I was 5 or 6. I grew up and started performing it at church, anywhere I played. It was and is such a part of me. I don't get to perform any longer, but it is still a part of my very being. If you don't feel the presence of the Lord when you hear this, then I don't know what to think.

One of my best friends died a couple of weeks ago. He was only 45. We are both die-hard Ram fans and watched every Ram game together. Sadly, he missed the announcement that the Rams were coming back to Los Angeles. We both live in the city of the Angels and we every Rams game from St. Louis. Although I'm Jewish and Joe was a devout Christian I have loved this great hymn since childhood. Don't think Joe will ever lie down with a 49er fan but he'll have a front-row seat the next time the Los Angeles Rams play in the Super Bowl. And when they do, I'll take out my guitar and sing "Peace in the Valley" for Joe and me.
