Exhibition of 12 drawings by Red Horse, a Minneconjou Lakota Sioux warrior and acclaimed ledger artist. Red Horse fought against Custer and the 7th Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876.
Key collaborators from Stanford and its communities explore the indigenous-centered illustrations from diverse perspectives.
This is the first time a selection of these remarkable works has been displayed together since the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1976.
The drawings are on loan from the National Anthropological Archives at the Smithsonian Institution.
