Dang. Just bought my first shotgun (Mossberg 590) some weeks ago, but now this one really gets me! That's one beautiful shotgun. If we'd have some trap ranges here in Switzerland, I'd definitly buy. Thanks, Ruger!

Honeslty, Ruger made me a fanboy of their products due to their vast array of firearms ranging from 22lr pistols to now 308 ar10 battle rifles. ITS fantastic. I just love the products.

Want to order that Ruger Red Label last week and the dealer said : no more available and he doesn't know why !? The Red Label is no more on the Ruger website too... Very strange and not so fair from the company.

Sporting shotguns are popular because of awesome competitions like FITSAC, and Americans need to shoot more of them with a great American sporting shotgun like this...... Love the simple sleek modern look..... I would get one of these for smoking clays - looks as lively as a Perazzi MX-....... Cheers

I honestly think a low profile shotgun or pistol (low sight w/high raise) makes the guns accurate. I don't know how you can shoot with a skeet rib....and the shorter shotguns are better except when you get to a certain lower lengths. This explains why the 870 youth is so accurate. Low profile shotguns include this one and the Cynergy. I haven't tried either but they should perform good.

I've got a 12Ga/28 inch Ruger Red Label that I have had for many years. It has developed problems over the years and will only shoot bottom, then top. If I try to shoot top then bottom, it will misfire. Apparently it is no longer supported by Ruger. I can't get parts, and I can't find anyone that can work on it.

Too bad its discontinued again. I'm bummed. A couple of mistakes that were made - making it only in 12 and making an auto safety. Im my opinion the real niche for the red label are not pheasant and duck hunters who tend to the 12. They are grouse, woodcock, quail, and chukar hunters. The sweet spot for the hunter's red label was the 20 gauge in 26" barrels. I've got a '79 and crush it on wild game due to its fit which is a bit better for larger statured shooters than many brownings. Having said all that I am totally sympathetic to Ruger's cause. Black guns and handguns are where the money is...so Ruger's niche in making great quality hunting guns for a reasonable price kind of fell out of the market due to this, frankly, sad obsession with military people-killing guns. The Red Label and the Model 77 represent two great examples. Oh well. The red label is a great case study of this trend. Hunters are in decline, and the new gun buyer is likely some gamer that wants the guns in his first person shooter video games. You go to a gun store now and there are maybe a half-dozen wood-stocked long-guns and the clerks are all showing off their open carrying side-arms. sick of it.

I don't like the idea of long shotguns b/c their not rifles. The ammos don't go the distance so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I also hate heavy guns. Why do they still make heavy guns when you have technologies like Steelium or whatever?......geez. Get with the program. A Beretta DT11 is better than a Purdey or Holland and Holland or Perazzi. Don't believe me? Go read for yourself. Perhaps if you can change the measurements on the stocks to fit you on a Beretta, it would serve you better. What trips me the most is the cost of a SXS Beretta, costing more than a 692 and a 692 has better technologies. Where is this world heading? For 6k you can get a Fausti and Fausti is no Italian joke with money left to go hunting or to the massage parlor. Even a Turkish Dickinson is better. LOL. O/U should weigh the same as an Emperor O/U or lower. Other light guns like the CZ or the ATI or the Linberta are pretty sick. Gosh. No, production guns shouldn't cost 50k US...and a custom gun is never the price of a decent house. I wrote on Beretta's page that you can't take a SOE or whatever and engrave it by hand and charge people more than a house. In such case, I'd rather prefer the precision of laser engraving of my very own art b/c my own art is the best art in the world.

What the hell are you talking about? How can you supposedly know so much about shotguns then say you don't think they should have long barrels? WTF? Guns are heavier to absorb more recoil. You ever shot a lightweight field gun on a clay course with repeated targets. Your shoulder is going to be fucked up. You sound like a douche.

BlueonGoldZ Sorry about my saying "they're not rifles." I do write fast and I do speak two languages or more. However, I do stick to my story. I am not a douche. I am only a douche to you. Yeah, it does seem I know a lot about shotguns....I need to mention other guns like the Lincoln and Lanber. I don't like Weatherbys...but they're cool. I'd rather get a Ruger Red Label or a Browning Cynergy. Dude, I shoot a Mossberg 835 pump regularly also known as a Magnum. It never damaged me. I don't get bruises from shooting. I think I am too tough for that. The only thing wrong with it being kick hard like mules is that you can't reacquisition to the target as quickly as the lighter ones. Just saying. We can take a look at the "regular" short Benelli's and they don't kick so what are you saying? I forgot to mention CZ has some pretty sick O/U's and SXS. I must say that for heavy guns, Baikal makes them like tanks homie and a Benelli will never be able to do what a Baikal can. It's good to be intelligent. Just saying.

Very impractical sir. Long shotguns are necessary for competition and waterfowl. And to make a reliable shotgun that will last generations it needs to be heavy . Plus synthetic doesn't look nearly as good as walnut wood
