Red Ridge still grizzly territory after bluff charge hikers in the valley at Sparrowhawk Tarns
After reading the sign at the trailhead saying that a grizzly bear bluff charged hikers Aug 29 2024 at Sparrowhawk Tarns, located via a long approach valley under the Red Ridge, I was hoping to avoid the grizzly territory by following this Red Ridge.
The ridge however had grizzly bear very fresh markings, namely when I reached my supposedly bivy point for the night at 2300m elevation, I stepped and slipped on fresh bear scat loaded with buffalo berries, in an area where I saw for the first time during this trip lots of buffalo berry bushes loaded with berries.
Fortunately I stepped in this bear scat else I wouldn't have thought that a grizzly was actually there very recently, perhaps even same day, at this elevation, thus I immediately started leaving the bivy spot down to the vehicle. I've filmed a porcupine along the way.
Great scenery, intro Google Earth, and I've stopped to film in several locations along the way to the trail head.
