A little different than the original Redfish Cracklin tied up by the Sight Cast Fishing guys, but I like it! Well done!

Just ordered some craft hair so I can tie this one. I've also decided that I'm going to start making my own dubbing brushes after this last trip to the fly shop...those things are way too pricey for my budget currently and I have plenty of stuff to make them with. My only problem is I don't have the device to make them. I do however have a 3d printer and a cnc router so I think I may just make one! Can't wait to test this pattern out in the lagoon! Thank you!

Hi, great video and instructions as always. Where did you get the baby bug legs - vanilla. I could not find “baby” legs on FTD’s site. Thanks!

If you ever want to fish the jetties again, the OPST commando smooth works well out there. Bring a stripping basket with you

Brilliant looking fly I have no doubt this would work great at my local fishery on rainbows. I loved your attempt at O ' Shaughnessy lol it sounds like ( O ' Shawn a say ) when its pronounced I hope this helps

Dear McFly - I love your brush making device! Do you have plans for that device?? - I would like to make one. Also, your flies are real deal fish catchers! Thanks!
@McFlyAngler

I did not make the device, you can purchase it many places. Just look up “cyclone dubbing brush table”.

I actually also could benefit from steelhead flies.

I hate to say it, I’ve never really done that type of tying. Like once or twice. I’m not the best person to teach that technique. I’m not saying never, but for now I just don’t see myself making many.

It’s called a hackle plier. Here is a link to some on Amazon. amzn.to/3lWpvD9

Do these species specific flies really work better on the species they're intended for? I've caught a lot of rockfish on bonefish and permit flies, but there's no bones or redfish in Cali to compare to.
@McFlyAngler

I wouldn’t say so no. I think they will work for any species that eats shrimp. Which these are made to look like.

Thoughts on using size 6 hooks for redfish?
@McFlyAngler
4 жыл бұрын
It’s a bit small. Can work if it’s a stout hook. I like size 2 on reds, I use 2-1/0 depending on the pattern. I have a buddy that uses these flies in 6’s for bass.

@@McFlyAngler thanks. I'll pick up some 2s and a couple 4s to round out my box.
