@@corneliusantonius3108 A full opera lasts on average about two hours & if one has a leading role, singing it all the way through takes a lot of stamina. Regardless, Tarja is a classically trained vocalist, who studied classical singing in a conservatory for several years (6 years, if my memory serves) full time, but Floor is not classically trained for the same extent as she only studied classical singing for two years part time.

As far as I know she studied at the Rock Academy Tilburg for four years and graduated there. Then she added two more years - one year classical training, one year musical theatre. She never wanted to become an opera singer, she did this just for learning new techniques. In my opinion for just one year of classical training her operatic parts are really good.

8:34 "Floor & Decor" nice! Even the ads add tt experience 😂 And yes, she's had classical training (1yr opera at the Tilburg conservatory besides one year music theatre) which came after her four yrs at the Rock Academy (did you see the documentary yet? --> "Floor Jansen in Dutch show Reunion (Tampere 2015)" is the right version). One year of opera training doesn't sound like much, but a unique natural talent with a superior physique may convert that one year into a skill set most accomplished vocalists won't achieve in a lifetime of training. Her sister, Irene, didn't receive any kind of formal training (that I know of) but the crazy amount of natural talent packed in those Jansen genes makes for another stellar vocalist.

You're hooked from the very first second with this opener. And, then, the entire concert, they never let you go once. One of the best concerts ever, by any band, IMO. And, I am so glad to see you give recognition to everyone in the band. They are, each and every one, at the top of their profession and they all love what they do. It becomes a mutual thing. They feed off of the enthusiasm of the audience and the audience feeds off of their love for their own music.

Another lovely reaction! Floor had only been with the band about 10 months before this show and almost all of the shows during that time were in North and South America. They had only done a handful of small European shows before headlining the massive Wacken festival so this was Floor's coming out party for Nightwish's massive European fan base. Many of them knew her from her previous bands After Forever and Revamp and were eagerly anticipating what Nightwish and Floor would sound like together. Whether tehy knew her or not, everyone instantly feel in love with her the moment she strode out on that stage and started singing. She grabbed our souls and has never let go!

Greatest opener EVER! Emppu with the pinched harmonics in the very early opening bars just sets the scene! I love one moment in particular. Emppu is running all over the stage, and this show is one of the earlier performances of Floor as their lead singer, so as this opens the show, it is her introduction to many of these fans. Just before she comes on stage, Marco and Emppu cross in perfect timing in front of her, almost like opening the curtains on her as their front woman! Love it every single time!

After that, she studied for 2 years opera and musical theatre at the conservatory, also in Tilburg, so she has 6 years of study in her vocal performance. Yes, Floor studied a bit of opera, but "not to a great extent" as she herself said. She did some at the music conservatory in the Netherlands after she finished the Rock Academy, but she found singing rules of opera too strict for singing pleasure. But her main education is 4 year higher music education Rock academy in Tilburg, the Netherlands and many years of one teacher who was specialised in Muscal theatre (stage presence!). She performed opera on Dutch TV once, around the time of the Wacken concert, I believe. You can see that here kzitem.info/news/bejne/tpuK33WQrYhmqn4 Floor did many things to get well known in the Netherlands, but she loved metal, and the Dutch don't. So, that's a problem. She only got popular in the Netherlands after the TV show "beste zangers" (dear/best singers) in 2019 which is NOT a competion (Floor hates competitive singing as it degrades all but the winner, which she finds undeserved and disrespectful). And after I introduce people to "o mio babbino caro by Floor" I also introduce them to "Disdain by Floor". kzitem.info/news/bejne/yoSJzGpqhmumdGU Just to show off her versatility. A little bit before Wacken, I believe.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to this story of a child's journey to reclaim a lost dream - a dream of a world of pure innocence and possibilities that has been stolen. The child follows a pale moonlight to a faraway dream, and finds a chest of wonders. This chest holds the secrets of the world that the child had lost, and the child regains the lost dream by opening the chest. The chorus of the song is a rallying cry for the child to seek out and unlock the hidden potential and possibilities that lie within the chest. The song is an empowering anthem, encouraging listeners to never give up and to always dream of a brighter future.

Few things to keep in mind. 1) WOA sells out pretty much a year in advance. At that time, Anette Olzon was the lead singer. Although Floor was known, nobody really knew her sound with NW. When Anette was fired, there was a bit of apprehension both with fans and within the band. There had been issues with Anette and the band was stressed. When Floor was hired to finish the tour through 2013, all the band was focusing on was that initially. 2) When fans heard Floor in every concert with NW, it was like never before. At this concert, the band had played enough to feel like their stress was relieved. They all looked forward to this. 3) Back when Anette was hired, Floor had been in the running to replace Tarja. It might not have been the right time though, since Tarja was and still is a close friend. The two have even sung together in Tarja's band (they sang a NW song, "Over the Hills"). 4) Touring at the level NW does was taxing Anette into bad health, and it was taking a toll on her voice. She has a good voice (and she still sings, but tours very little). 5) Floor had stopped singing in 2012 because she was burned out and found no joy in it. When Tuomas called her, she was at her sister's wedding. When asked if she'd finish the tour, she said yes. The band was in the US. There's a video called "Learn the set list in 48 hours" about that. 6) Later in 2013 when Troy and Floor were asked to permanently join the band, all the band members had positive things to say. Tuomas and Marko were asked if Floor was good with the band, Tuomas said she was well adapted, and Marko said she was a professional. You might want to check out Floor reviewing her own performance of "Ghost Love Score" at WOA. 7) I was in this audience, and DCoW was a powerful beginning heralding the new NW and showing just how good it was going to be.

Jukka has been such a great enthusiastic drummer who played with his whole body and soul. It is really a pity that he had to stop drumming in 2014/2015 because of severe health problems. He is still with the band but now in management. His good friend Kai Hatho replaced him; he also is a great drummer but with a totally different style. All band members are outstanding artists who love what they do, each other and their fans. No egos on stage, just six good friends performing great music. Dark chest of wonders. Lets dig into this a bit, Tuomas writes from observation and experiences. You know he has some well used pseudonyms for himself in lyrics with references thereto, so when you have boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul in a lyric, it is Tuomas referencing himself. He says he is a man with a boy's heart. The dark chest did and maybe does still exist, Tuomas as a small child found it in his grand parents attic full of toys and story books that carried his imagination off in excitement to all manner of wondrous places. Therefore throughout this song Floor sings "of the one” in a very high head voice, just as you might expect from an extremely excited small child, that being Tuomas himself. Now look at the lyrics again and it all makes sense, Tuomas never includes notes or lyrics that are "fillers" or embellishment, it is all there for a very good reason, sometimes almost impenetrable or ambiguous. "Of the one with pure heart, once so long ago", Tuomas the Peter Pan child.

Yes, significant opera training, two great examples, first link from Beste Zangers show 2019 (you should watch all her numbers on there) and a young Floor singing on a show 2nd link.. kzitem.info/news/bejne/zZmCrWmOaptjhII, kzitem.info/news/bejne/tpuK33WQrYhmqn4

Jukka Nevalainen, drummer, is The Most BAD-ASS drummer! Btw, Nightwish and everyone involved is a great representation of them Finns 🇫🇮; they do not do anything half-assed! Ok, Floor has been adopted - she certainly fits in and IMHO, Floor is The G.O.A.T.

Floor is not singing operatic, it is Floor style metal with a classical trained voice, constantly switching between belting with chest voice, and singing with head voice.

@RED: still waiting for you to continue your Epica journey too. You only did the duet with Floor. But Simone is something else, too. Maybe you will return. And if - please do Epica feat. Apocalyptica "Rivers" at AFAS live 🤪 first. Next deep rabbit hole. And still you need to see the unbelievable Asami (!) - So Lovebites "Edge of the World" live (Memorial for the warrior souls) is THE MUST REACTION before you will react to anything else. Trust me. If you are not blown away I will quit 4ever. 😂
