I've loved Oregon for decades. Paul McCandless' playing here is phenomenal.
Fantastic! One of the greatest groups ever. Anyone who likes Oregon should also check out the "Silent Feet" album by Eberhard Weber on ECM. Also McCandless plays on Mark Isham's best album "Castalia."

I saw Oregon play @ Birdland last winter. I was right up front and what an experience! To watch Ralph Towner play was awesome. And I learned that Glen Moore(the bassist) wears toe socks because he prefers to be shoeless, lol!

I started listening to Oregon in 7th grade. What a discovery! Icarus was the theme song for Pete Fornatel's Sunday show on WNEW in NYC. I am sitting on a farm in Tallahassee recalling all the great music by Oregon. Timeless.

Thank you for posting these., Oregon was one of the first groups that changed my perspectives of jazz. Ralph Towner is definitely right up there Coltrane,Davis,Metheny,McLaughlin,Correa, etc.I have a 24 bit remastered C.D. of Oregons debut Album w/Paul McCandless,Collin Walcott and Glen Moore. I am 53 yrs. old, but I cried when I found it. Thanks again....Danny.

Thanks so much for posting this! I am just getting used to KZitem, and finding the music of one of my all-time favorite groups is rewarding. I met Ralph Towner many years ago in Seattle, and would run into him there occasionally. You never met a sweeter, more humble man...despite his immense talents.

Greg Vinson old comment, but worth a reply ... Ralph tours mostly in Europe ... the band will do a US tour about every two years as of late, and it will be a tour with limited dates ... log onto the Oregon website for current tour plans, if any.

What's cool about Towner is the otherwise uninhabited improvisational space he has created. On guitar, for example, I've heard lots of greats, and among them there are many shared stylings, but haven't heard anyone else who plays quite like Ralph Towner. Influenced galore lurk, but he's an original!

Where is the one off of the original Oregon record? Ralph Towner played a twelve sting on that and it was incredible. Also Larry Coryell was taking music in another direction as well when he mentioned Ralph Towner in an interview. Larry asked the classical guy at the time if he had ever heard of Ralph Towner (?) The classical purist journalist said no. The name of the magazine was "Guitar Magazine" with Larry playing the Hagstom on stage on the front cover.

@cr1msonking93 Why would any person's (s') age have to do with the ability to discern great music? Wouldn't it just be inate to any individual simply by listening and watching, and then simply comparing it to the tripe you hear in everyday life? It should be automatic to anyone of any age.
