I use an 8ft 5wt Butterstick paired with Scientific Angler Amplitude Trout Smooth Line, it’s such a killer line for the unique medium action the new Butterstick has. I fish with it on the Gunnison River pretty much exclusively for the Salmonfly Hatch and the Late summer Hopper action. It is a blast! Especially when you get a 16”+ Trout nailing a big dry fly. It’s also fun fishing for Smallmouth on the Colorado River. One of my favorite rods. 💯

How does it hold up in breezy or windy conditions?

@@user-pr8nw1mh2q Hahahaha….. It’s a bit squirrelly in windy conditions. However it does well compared to the older models. It is a 4 piece so that extra connection does increase the backbone and speed of the rod. Where I fish in Colorado windy conditions are the norm more often than I would like. It’s a great dry fly rod and I usually have to wait the wind out to get the best presentation. Windy conditions and dry flys don’t always go well with any rod you have regardless. It’s a fun rod to fish and it turns the heads of any other angler on the river. 💯😂

Hi, Do you fish this rod for smallmouth with top water flies only or do you sometimes use small streamers?

The fact that you compared the older model to a Taylormade, you won my heart bro ❤️

I have the 2 models back yellow Butter Stick (3wt), it is likely my favorite rod - it casts like ..... Butter (I had to :)! I always felt they moved too far from the formula with the white rod so I'm glad to see a return to form with this new one. I can't say how good this new one is but mine is amazing!

Fast is for graphite. Seems like they missed the mark, aren't glass fans in it for the bend?

Hey guys I plan on getting this in the 8 foot 5 as my first glass rod. But am still deciding between this and the sage foundation as I’ve never used a glass rod before. And as for reels I’m in between the sage spectrum lt and the Ross animas which reel and which rod would you go for
@Tridentflyfishing

Either reel will work fine, but the Animas is an exceptionally solid reel for the money

Orvis new glass rods not much more money and made in USA. If you want a foreign glass rod, the 35 dollar eagle claw casts smooth and delicate.

Wtf are you talking about? He’s fairly forward that it’s a more graphite-like feel.
