This has more production value than most any other Ranger Tug videos. The factory should hire yall to demo their boats.

Great video. I regret selling my 2004 21' Ranger Tug...regular cab. It was the most fun I've had as a boat owner.

Very nice job on your introduction and description of you Ranger 21. I'm down on the Manatee River, I have a Atlas Boat Works Pompano 21. We should try and get some of the other pocket trawlers together for a cruise on the bay.

Fantastic little boat. Would love to get one myself. A little out of my price range due to their limited numbers here in Australia. Plus the extra costs of needing a bigger tow vehicle to haul it around.

Cool channel. You should do an episode on the Jean Street Shipyard. It’s been around since the 1840’s. Lots of interesting history there.

Hi Guys wonderful vids. We also have an R21 EC 2011 model but we are located a couple of miles away from you guys in Tea Gardens, NSW, Australia. There are about 50 R21's in Australia, most around 10 years old now. So to a question, how do you sit so comfortably in the drivers seat? You appear to be able to place your right leg to the side of the steering wheel. I am not able to do that and have to leave my legs dangling in order to steer. So where does your extra leg room come from? I wonder if the seat could be adjusted backwards or the steering wheel lifted upwards? Oh and btw where is your windlass?

Interesting question: at my helm, my feet are straight down on the v berth cushion. I actually have a pad on the cushion as not to dirty it. My legs are not even remotely close to touching the wheel, even if a cross them in typical guy-fashion. I'm not a small bloke, just average, slightly less than 2 meters. Curious. As for the windlass, I wish I had one! However the Mrs. is quite accomplished in lowering and retrieving the anchor. I'd hate to take that job away from her. Chuckle. Thanks for watching! I never thought I would reach folks a hemisphere away. One of my favorite travel stories involves attending the IMAX conference in Sydney in 1998. I tacked on 3 weeks of holiday on the back-end to dive the reef out of Cairns, camped in the Daintree, and other typical touristy activities.

@@RedirectedontheRiver Well I have my answer. It would seem that my steering wheel is less to center than yours, basically pushing against my right leg. A seat modification might be in order. Interesting challenge ahead.

Great looking boat. How well does the A/C cool the cabin?
@RedirectedontheRiver
3 жыл бұрын
I have to be honest - the A/C is not great. But there are two things going against it down here in sunny (brutally hot) Florida: 1. It's Florida, and 2. The A/C works by heat-exchanging with the sea water, which as of today, is 90.4F! So if I get caught in a storm, and have to close the hatches, the A/C makes the pilothouse tolerable, but certainly not cool. The unit is undersized for the tropics, and the engine and alternator need to be above a fast-idle to sustain the power draw. The most disappointing thing is that the A/C does not directly connect to shore-power. The power flow schematic is: Shore power to battery power (two AGMs, in parallel I believe) and then battery to an inverter, then 120v to the compressor. The upshot is the battery charger does not have the capacity to output the draw from the compressor. I can only run the AC when underway, as only the alternator can crank out the amps needed. And the AC unit is undersized in terms of BTUs for Florida. I am sure there is a work-around for the AC - at the dock on shore power - issue. I'm working on that now, as that is a must if we are ever going to overnight on the boat, unless we pick one of those days were it is cooler than 70F after sunset. (And there just aren't that many days!)

Hello I have a question. The EC stands for Extended Cruise. Have you ever done an extended cruise in this boat? Several days to a week? Wondering what that's like in such a small space.
@RedirectedontheRiver

I think the EC stands for "extended cabin." We have never gone on a long trip with this boat. Although the 18 gallons of diesel could let us cruise a long distance, the size of the boat limits the practicality . . . for us. I am sure there are those that would enjoy it - the same folks that are into "tiny houses." That's not us. We are day cruisers.

@@RedirectedontheRiver I would have said "extended cockpit" because the cockpit is large in relation to the cabin.
