I'm thinking of doing this because I can't find anything I want. I'm going to do so I keep my back seat area and use the tailgate and glass to seal it up. 👍 Thanks for the confidence boost

I have made a few trucks out of cars and they have always brought great pleasure. We are prepping a half cavalier half sunbird to turn into a closed cab truck. So many people have done this sort of thing that a name for this kind of vehicle, they are called a UTE, pronounced "yoot".

High school years back in the 80s! We had a pinto that was sooo rusted out; if you rode shotgun? You'd have to keep your feet up cause there was no floor. Driver side was just as bad. Legs suspended while pushing peddles. But, she drove. Took a mitter saw and chopped off the entire top! Interior was a matching crappy. One day, we got lucky! Drove past a house. Someone threw out their entire carpet, so? We picked it up! Carpeted the entire car! Even the door panels! She did drive. For plates? This was the 80s. We live in deep South Texas! Which meant, you could cross the border and buy the window sticker plates at the Mexican flea market for $25. Better times!!!

all you had to do was use a low E string on the glass drive it in one side and start making a saw motion til you cut the foam around the entire glass and keep the glass i am blown away that you hit it hard with a sledge hammer and it did not break its refreshing that something today has that kinda integrity today Grandpa would be proud lol

Just came across this video today. I happen to be building one of these out of a 03 Tahoe. We are leaving the doors on and cutting the doors and rear quarters at the window line leaving the pinch weld area by the rear glass. The original interior will be reinstalled the seatbelts are integrated into the seats in this vehicle. There will be a custome roll bar installed that will tie into the b pillars. The tahoe has a 6inch lift and sets on 35,s. The body work is still a ways from done. But the paint is bought it's a metal flake orange the bimony cover will be camel colored the wheels bumpers and roll bars are dark brown.

Why couldn't you have left the roof on to the rear pillar, then take it off above cargo area. It would have been stronger, and safer, given overhead protection from the sun, and wouldn't have looked quite so bad. Just sayin.

Its like in a truck, few SUVs also have them, see pic: i.ytimg.com/vi/QUwXjWRTF4I/maxresdefault.jpg If your SUV have them, so you can cut your frame, if not, so its not safe to do so, the frame have his supports from the roof (and other parts of the frame), see pic: kuzovspec.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/lonzheron.jpg Im not a mechanic, just i want also to do this, and i want to be sure that it is safe :)

***** Well, I think that your wondering about the difference between a uni-body car and a full frame vehicle. It would not be advised to cut a uni-body vehicle like this but, an S-series like this has a full ladder frame which will hold strong even if the body of the vehicle is customized like we've started here. By the way, we are still working on the project. We will put out more video as we go. Thanks for watching.
