Awesome video, exactly what I needed I ended up here because I've learned react and was starting to get into redux and got confused about the difference between redux and redux toolkit libraries, a lot due to what u were discussing here about even newer tutorials using really old patterns, and lazy as I am I didn't read the documentation

I have had trouble understanding why so many people (in threads on r/ReactJS, for example) seem to give this "anything but Redux" response whenever state management is brought up as a topic. Mark responds tirelessly to these threads trying to at least make sure people even know what they're criticizing (i.e., "standard" Redux today is Redux Toolkit, so criticizing the usage patterns and demands of 2015 Redux isn't relevant). The responses claiming that React Context is an apples to apples replacement for state management libraries like Redux or Zustand are also endless, and there must be hundreds of basically identical posts and comment threads that go down this road. It really helps it make more sense that these ideas got started somewhere "higher up" and are now just kind of parroted by a lot of people. I don't really have any comparison (I haven't used Zustand, for instance) but I used RTK and RTK Query last year for the first time and they are not difficult to use. The documentation is top notch and includes a lot of information about "manual" Redux to cement the concepts that are abstracted by RTK. As someone who learned React and (sort of) Redux by reading class-based code with lots of connected components, the docs were/are a great refresher and bridge between the old and new. Also, I chose Redux specifically because the documentation was good and because I'd seen Mark's blog and Reddit posts and happened to watch your first conversation on the topic on this channel. Maybe I'll try Zustand next time just for fun, but Redux (Toolkit) is great and clearly has good people around it.

Sucks that you have to deal with the brunt of the community. Redux has paved the way for all of these other implementations for state management (learnings, best practices etc.). There are always pros/cons to things but I wish the community would approach things from a more pperviative standpoint rather than whats happening now.

Its sad that commmunity is so negative. What often gets left out is that rtk is not react only. I just did a personal project with vanilla js and rtk worked there excellent.
