Hi Tom ... just a thought ... shining green light on any plant is a bit of a waste of energy as all plants reflect green light, they do not absorb it. Chlorophyll absorbs light most strongly in the blue portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, followed by the red portion. For your refugium, I would suggest you turn the blue, red and, white channels up to the max. Turn off the greens. I am not sure whether the AI Prime has true UV LED's ... but to be safe, turn the UV off as well as Chlorophyll is irreversibly damaged when exposed to UV ... that is why UV clarifiers work so well.

Hey Bark, I don’t know the exact light science behind the refugium as you may. Just basics. However all I want from it is growth, as well as to enjoy looking at it. If I set my lights as you say, it’s just blue and not really appealing to look at. My UV is off. 👍🏻😊

Things are looking great Tom. I lost almost everything in my tank almost a year ago and I lost most interest after that. I just started getting back into things again. Hopefully I will have better luck this time around. Take care!

That’s a tough studio audience you have there 😂. I’d love to see the brush you use to clean the skimmate line. Mine is about 3/4 feet and I can’t get it clean
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
Haha😂 I love messing with the canned laughter and clapping 😃 mine brush isn’t much better. It only cleans the first foot. I run super hot water through the hose that loosens most of the skimmate.

Digging the light set up. You said you don't run red or green but white light is a combination of violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. So technically you're blasting red and green...lol
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
I know that👍🏻😊that’s why I don’t add the extra red and green 🤪most reefers don’t realize cool white has red and green in it 👍🏻

Is higher white good or lower on the lights ? Cause I was told lower is better
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
Hi The one and only, there’s some debate on that. Some depends on corals you keep, the location they’re found in natural reefs. Deeper water corals require less white and more blue. Shallow depth corals require less blue and a bit more white. I like to mix the blues and white. Favoring a bit more white because I think it’s more pleasing to look at and my 75 gallon is predominantly, soft corals, or shallow water corals.

Just curious why did you get rid of the sensor ato you mentioned?
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
Hi Alex, I mentioned briefly in the video. I had some issues with it over filling, (not the tank but just to much water filling) as well as not coming on when the water level went below the sensor . I had the auto aqua lite ato. I just lost trust in them.

Where did you get the low iron glass to build the tank with? And how much? I can’t find it in my area and the normal glass is so expensive it’s about the same as buying a low iron rimless from waterbox lol
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
Hi Jay, I got it from a local glass shop here in Rockaway NJ 😃that has a manufacturer that they got it from. All the glass to make my tank was $600. I know about waterbox. You have to be careful, there is levels of low iron glass. I have their 20 gallon, and it’s not as clear as the glass I have for the 75 gallon.
@truckinlow1

@truckinlow1 3/8” beveled edge👍🏻 I believe the price was good. That was my first time buying glass, but I knew the guy.

Hows your yellow tang doing
@TOMReefer
7 ай бұрын
Hi Rhombifer, sad to say I lost it. When I added flatworm exit. My fault, I should’ve never attempted to use flatworm exit to kill flatworms when I had a new fish in there. It got extremely stressed after the application. I attempted to move him into the 75 gallon and it didn’t survive. 🫤I may try again.
