A lot of extra work but the final outcome is well worth it. This is what separates the men from the boys.

Thanks I hope so. I would rather put in the hours to do it then look at it later with regret. I keep telling myself all the extra work will pay off.

Wow. This is the stuff that separates the men from the boys. Well done. You are really getting the TIG welding down. It makes me wish I had pulse on my TIG. I don't think most people realize how hard it is to weld sheet metal without making a mess. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I learn a lot.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Yes after I figured some good pulse settings for 19 gauge it really helped me a lot. It gives me just a tiny bit of cool down in-between so I don't blow holes but get full penetration. Those guys welding 1/8" make it look easy because 1/8" is easy compared to 19 or 20 gauge. Old Toyotas used 24 gauge I think, now that would take some skill.

I have been going to car shows for over 40 years and know or have known numerous body guys and people who have show quality cars i do not beleive that i have ever seen or known anyone that did this it has never crossed my mind im not going to this level with my cars but the level of details going into ruby is amazing you are such detail oriented to point that i dont know anybody to compare you too excellent work shes going to be gorgeous

Thank you so much for the really nice comment Chris. I go to a lot of car shows every year and look at a lot of nice work too and have never seen this either. There is another upside to this as well. I don't have to sand down inside those darn triangle areas now 😁

Thanks Ray I appreciate that. I feel like some of these things may not be obvious but will give the overall feel of something special to even a novice car enthusiast. Hopefully all of these little things add up big when Ruby is done.

Those weep holes will allow you to spray some epoxy in there too. Didn’t look like you sealed those surfaces before welding them in. 👍

Thanks I have some thin sealer I can flood through the weep holes that should help. Weld through primer hates me when I am TIG welding. I don't think I am good enough to use that stuff while TIG welding.

Interesting video thank you for making it. I did the same thing and tig'd up some external body lines, also without any ability to clean the joint before welding, on my bronco that I thought were unnecessary to look at. For what it is worth I have found the evercoat Fibertech which is a kevlar reinforced fiber filler to be the go to for any post tig treatment like this as it seals and also has structural stability. In spite of the heart palpitating price tag....

Thanks. I have never used the Fibertech before, I will keep it in mind. I usually use metal reinforced filler for non flexible areas.

Looking really good! Giving me lots of ideas and inspiration for my project. The only recommendation I would give you is spraying some weld through primer in the triangle pockets and on the backsides of the filler pieces.

Thanks. Weld through primer and me do not get along at all when I am TIG welding. I am sure others can use it when they are tig welding but if makes it so much harder I skip it. I will flood those areas with a sealer through the weep holes later to give it a fighting chance.

@@FoothillPaintandFabrication my opinion (for what it's worth) is that for a vehicle that will never see snow and rain constantly it doesn't matter much. Especially up high like that.

@@FoothillPaintandFabrication what? doesn't snow in the foothills? 😁 of course, if you have access. I was mainly referring to the weld thru primer, welding burns it off at the weld anyway.

@@BusyAsABeaver72 Yes it does and trying to TIG weld through it is a nightmare for me. It rarely snows here at my elevation and Ruby will be tucked into her bed if there is any chance of bad weather.
