Farage has made a career of doing nothing but snipe from the sidelines. It’s why I think Westminster will either humble him or ruin him. He wants an easy ride, but Parliament has standards he and his numerous private company “parties” aren’t used to. The moment he opens his mouth with a policy or opinion beyond “I think immigration is too high, let’s stop it!” people rightly get upset because his economic policies (essentially Trussian libertarianism/anarchy politics that created the pension black hole) and attitude towards public services (privatise it all so his hates can make money off our misery) are supremely unpopular. That’s why people look or listen carefully to Farage and his outfits have an intense disliking of him because once you see the Emperor is not only naked but has nothing in his wardrobe either, it’s hard to unsee it. Generally, it’s only the people who can’t be bothered to scrutinise him that vocally support him (outside people who just enjoy having their latent bigotry echoed back at them). Even so, I know plenty of happily politically ill-informed salt of the earth working class people who can see through Farage’s act thanks to being gifted with emotional and social intelligence to see the signs of a grift. Sadly, people like Farage exploit the human nature to believe and trust what they hear, more than distrust. It keeps conmen in expensive suits, after all. My only hope is that Clacton rightly get tired of him very quickly when he fails to serve their area properly, or he does try, and opens his own eyes to how the policies he holds would hurt them more than help them and changes his attitude. I hope for the latter, but expect the former.

As an MP and a party leader he will rightly be subject to a far higher level of media scrutiny and he can bleat about it as much (and no doubt he will) as he likes but the more he does, the harder the media hyenas will pursue him. He cannot resist sticking his head above the parapet so it should not come as a surprise to him when journalist start taking pot shots at him. I'll ignore the Politics - for a change - to thank you for the main content of this video. It is indeed a thing most wonderful to hear that a Full Orchestra is accompanying a production of 'Hello Dolly' with the great Imelda Staunton, et al. on stage. There was a time, not so long ago, when there was a genuine fear that LIVE performances would never happen again on our shores, as we practised our art as Orchestral musicians, singers and actors, all alone or on Zoom as we waded through the dark days of prolonged Lockdowns; but, gladly, the doom-mongers were proved wrong and they underestimated the power of unity of those of us involved in the Creative Arts who pelted Politicians with Petitions in order to make our presence felt. Too many people take such Art forms for granted. Hopefully, never again! Enjoy the Show!

If someone is an actor and is found to be pretending to be someone/something he's not, then it is fair to assume he is playing a role rather than being himself. Let us for a moment discuss the present state of Political Dialogue. It might be thought that Political dialogue would feature in the Media and the Press but there is no evidence of thought there, with the prostitution of the idea of interviews conducted by the ignorant of the ignorant and the deceitful, there is of course no dialogue in the Press, the authenticity of anything they publish is questionable as news and even anything as vaguely cogent as thought, it is a spiel, a fiction which currently centres on their hysteria, xenophobia and paranoia on immigration. I want to make two points on this; firstly that the present 'Reform' and 'Ukip' do not know their history, not only not know or understand their history but do not know it, in the sense of deriving perspective let alone integrity, secondly that the class, the category of people who wax eloquently albeit it hypocritically and mendaciously on the subject of immigration are the same class of people that clamoured as Empire Loyalists and then as the Empire collapsed followed Enoch Powell to become xenophobes and xenophobes who wilfully forget the rhetoric of their former embodiment by denying and reneging on the rhetoric of Empire, namely that their land was our land and our land was their home and the great Queen Victoria loved them all with the same passion she loved Prince Albert, but they forget that they, the English did not like Prince Albert, he was a foreigner and worse,an honourable man . They forget too that the One nation D'isreali replaced Peel as the leader of Conservative Party and they deplored Peel because he split their party on Principles he had the wit to learn in office, he changed his mind, but compared with our current crop of politicians there was strong evidence that he had a mind to change. The second point to make about 'English Thought' is that the English loved to be flattered, and if one does not flatter then they make good the deficiency by praising themselves with no false modesty. It was true however that for all the faults that any real nation has, if nation has any meaning, then the English despite their empire, despite their arrogance, as a whole were a congenial, tolerant [sensu stricto] people, and I remember an old fashioned Tory Lady saying, of my father when she did not know I was in ear shot 'He is a good citizen, that is all I ask of a neighbour, and the same lady embraced my French Communist fiancé with the hope that she [the fiance] would keep me in order because I had defeated her efforts. A matter of eleven years ago, lacking only a month or so, the English Wimbledon crowd cheered Sabine Lisicki to the rafters as she made one of her celebrated come backs from the brink of defeat, against Li Na, against Maria Scharapova, Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwankska. To enter a personal note here, I can say I was proud of the sportsmanship of English Crowds in general, but their charity and their tolerance and the sense of sportsmanship has markedly deteriorated since Brexit. For all their faults the English were a whimsical, humorous people who softened their angularities with humour, and even some measure of self deprecation, but the modern English are a marked decline from that and now what claims to be their thought is acrid, mean, vicious and gratuitously mendacious, they are introspective, insular in the worst sense of the word, and 'patriotic; if that means anything, ,they wave flags of St. George and brandish them and their fists, but this is not thought, it is Frenzy, I have discerned neither from their [politicians, their culture or their press anything I would care to explain or interpret as thought, it is rubbish and it is based on rubbish They are looking for scape goats for their own rotten judgment. The weakness of any democracy is not the system, it is not the civil service or the police, it is the electorate when they are badly educated, lack any faculty of self criticism and have abdicated integrity because of their press and the abject calibre cogency, integrity and courage of what pass for their leaders. The country and its people, especially its people, have passed from being 'a people' and become a rabble and contemptible, and what is true of the English is true of the Anglosphere generally, it has been suborned by money, it has been propagandised with neither principle nor integrity and for that the media shaped by Rupert Murdoch must bear the greatest responsibility for a crisis of democracy that is menacing in the extreme.

Michael Sheen is wonderfully outspoken in his political views. His Aneurin Bevan lecture at Hay Festival in 2017 sent tingles down the spine he spoke and still does to this day...nor contact with that he then went on to introduce and talk to Bernie Sanders straight afterwards...still 2 of the best hours I've ever had

Politics have become so petty now, hecklers will always appear across the board. But actors have been used which is extremely wrong and desperate. Actors have opinions but should really stick to treading the boards.

To be fair, Farage may thrown insults at his political opponents, but unlike some of them, he’s never thrown ‘actual’ missiles at them with intent to cause physically harm.

oh professor ... the establishment would never stoop so low to smear their threats. And as to the shouting people down the only people i see shouting democratically elected people is the left e.g. France, and farage's recent speech. Anyhow i do enjoy watching you waffle however lol. Remember the whole of europe is moving to the right and labour didnt win any popular vote, just ppl stayed at home and didnt vote

You make good points, and I think one extreme view leads to the other as a counter culture. Saying that, I have no idea how to bring people back together, it seems to be escalating on both sides.

@@Lost_as_value_freespeech Maybe it is a sign of the times there seems to be quite a bit of turmoil globally, millions of people on the move, environmental disasters looming seems to be polarising society? Maybe a beter form of representation in our institutions is needed? TBH I have no idea what concerns me is that everything Ive held for granted seems to be eroded away by politicians

@@user-zd5rx7qr2o I'd say environmental disasters aren't a major issue yet, well no more than historically, but I think you're right, it's a sign of the times. I find it weird that all western countries made the same stupid changes at the same time creating the same issues, maybe that's a coincidence or a hang over from pandemic, I don't know.

Are we not all ''actors'' upon the stage of this world ? Performance upon this stage inevitably brings consequences that have been so wonderfully broadcast during this election campaign, and in particular an underlying aspect to many of these consequences is the abject failure of ''multiculturism''. The sinister scenes faced by Jess Philips and the emergence of sectarianism into the sphere of politics is becoming a worry and concern for many who only have '' 1 card '' to play in such scenarios , whilst the mobs have many ''cards'' in their hands. To disagree with multiculturism now results in being labelled a racist, a bigot, and a whole assortment of ''phobe''. That old saying ''thou shall reap what ye sow'' is ,indeed, a true consequence. Good Morning.
