I got rid of cable and using an antenna now get FNX, which I watch frequently. I saw this program tonight and was so inspired by this food sovereignty movement. I'm a long time gardener, and in my childhood, my family did a lot of foraging using the book Stalking the Wild Asparagus. I will be making a donation to your movement and spreading the word. Best of luck.

This is one of the most valuable videos I've seen recently, it's so heartfelt. I know the Native Americans should be given back their land, because how can you not look back on history and not think so. They never should have had their way of life taken away. People need to know about this story, because their story is mirrored in the stories of other tribes, throughout the nation. Everyone can learn something from this. I'm interested in foraging, ancestral skills, and traditional sustainable living practices. I feel like if you gain something from what you learn from another, you must always give it back.

I definitely think someone should write up closed captions for the Anishinaabe. As someone learning the language, I at least can understand a lot of it, but if it's not translated for those who don'y speak it, the elder speaking loses so much information shes trying to get across. I'm watching this for my ethnobotany class, and I know if I am missing some of what is getting said, then so many others have no idea what she is saying. UW-Milwaukee has an Anishinaabe language class for 4 semesters.

wonderful video that explicitly identifies the importance/role of both land and culture in food sovereignty.

This is amazing! I am currently trying to get a gardening program going in White Earth. I am having a hard time getting any response as to how to get this going. I have an opportunity to apply for a grant to purchase tillers and gas. I would like to see community gardens go in to the villages and personal ones for those who are more rural. This would be a free service. I also have access to free seeds. I would incorporate how to store them and save seeds for the following year. HELP!!!
