Hi Jennifer Hope it went well. How did you hold up? I plan to sing this at my son's wedding or engagement party..whenever that will be..hopefully in 5 plus years so I can practise and not cry through the song..will adapt the words. Will look for a voice coach as my voice has deepened as I've got older. Blessings

I think had I not looked at him the whole time while singing I would have made it without crying but I was and am so proud of him I couldn’t look away. We was very close and best friends and her death hit me the most, I didn't want to go to school and wanted to die and my mom said it was just her time and it wasn't my time yet. I was 11 turning 12. 🙋🏽♀️Same here, 2 girls 1 boy. My oldest daughter just turned 21 this month and next month she's is moving to another city with her 20 year old boyfriend who she's only known a little over one year. I'm so scared and worried for her but what can I do? 🤷🏽♀️😩😪💔 The more you try to prove to them that something isn't right, the more they pull towards it. 😔🤦🏽♀️ Sometimes I just tear up when I think about her leaving. I wish she could just see all the red flags in that relationship. This guy didn't even want her to finish college!! She's in culinary school and she's suppressed to be going one more year to get the highest degree which is Doctoral but she's gonna finish this semester in March and move in with him and his mom until they can get a place. 😑🤨 So she's put all this time into school only to end up staying with a bum of a boyfriend who lives with his mom in her roach infested house that's so infested she's having to move because she can't get rid of them all?!?😵🤮 My daughter has lead a very sheltered life to the point that she didn't even have to work as a teen, she just chose to. She hasn't even got her driver's license yet and neither has he!!!! The car my mom bought her was for her to practice in and get her license so she could drive herself to class but now that she's not getting her doctoral and decided to move with him, my mom's gonna sale the car. Anyone reading this PLEASE just pray with me that she doesn't get pregnant and that she still goes after her career of being a chef. 🙏🏽👩🏽🍳😊 Her name is Megan (I call her chef MeMe🥰) Sorry this was so long, I guess I needed to vent that. 😌 Best of luck to anyone reading this that may be going through anything similar. 🙏🏽💗

When I was deep in my addiction the man I was with, who brought me into my addiction, had a visit from his mother. She dropped off a portable tape player & a cassette tape. She made a note on it to listen to a certain track and when he brought it in he just gave it to me and said here. I looked at it and wasn't familiar with Regina Belle. I put the headphones on & went to the track & started to listen. I had to take them off & stop the tape. It was too much for me to bear that this guy that got me so tangled up in his world of drugs had a mother that loved him very much. That was my introduction to this artist & this song. Crazy right? Everyone has a Mom that loves them...everyone.

Back in 1999, my father spent months trying to pick the PERFECT song for our father-daughter wedding dance. Mere HOURS before we left for the church, he finally came to me with a smile, saying “I got it!” like it had been in the back of his mind all along and was just that simple. Even though a guy was singing (and his version had come first) , as soon as I heard those first three words, I just held up a hand and tried not to mess up my makeup! What he didn’t realize was that back in college, I had heard THIS version and always thought it’d be the one I’d choose for MY child when they got married. I had forgotten all about it until that VERY PERFECT moment. Like father, like daughter! 🥹🥰

Love this song so much! Had my son at 19 years old. He is way past 40 now! We were alone, his father left us. He didn't want anything to do with us. But we made it. I was a waitress hardly made $100.00 a week, but we loved and held on to each other. Back then you were looked down on for being pregnant and not married. My relatives, doctor and even the hospital when he was born, tried to make me give him up, they all said children like this need a good home. They said that I could never take care of him. But there is no way I would have ever lived with myself had I listened to those judgemental hateful people. This was my song then and still is today. I think it's the most beautiful song to your child ever written! There's no way you can listen to it and not cry for you and your child. And feel proud of the true love you have for each other. A bond that will never die. 🎵🎶❤❤❤🎶🎵

What a beautiful song and such a perfect description of my mother. It's been eight months, and her passing (even after a 6-year sickbed) has deeply scarred her 3 sons. If you - reading this now - know yourself to be a caring mother, I have this to tell you: Never underestimate your value in your children's lives. To them, home isn't a place, "home" is wherever YOU are.

Hang in there. My mom always said 'Life goes on with or without us'. And it definitely does. My mom died June 29 2014. And I'm still here. You don't get 'over it', but you learn how to adjust to life without your mother, and you keep living. 🔱 🗽

Sadly, divorce has separated me from our 2 children...their smiles, ...their joys..their pain...just the sound of their voices in a place we once called Home... but yet through my tears... I glean hope in songs like these. Love your kid ...every chance you get...coz one day you will put your arms around them one last time in this world.

If I could I'd protect you From the sadness In your eyes Give you courage In a world Of compromise Yes, I would If I could I would teach you All the things I've never learned And I'd help you Cross the bridges That I've burned Yes, I would [Chorus:] If I could I would try to shield Your innocence From time But the part of life I gave you isn't mine I'll watch you grow So I can let you go If I could I would help you Make it through The hungry years But I know That I can never Cry your tears, babe But I would if I could If I could In a time And place Where you Don't wanna be You don't have To walk along This road with me My yesterday Won't have to be Your way If I knew I'd try To change the world I brought you to Now there Isn't much more What I can do But I would If I could [Chorus] If I could

My mom died at the age of 70. She came down with a form of cancer that placed her in a rehabilitation center where she had a fall that injured her hip and the combination of the cancer and the fall was to much for her heart to deal with. She died November 27,2016. One day before my birthday. A day doesn't past that she is not missed. If she was here, I would sing this song to her. Fighting to hold back tears

Exactly the way I feel, probably ever since I had my first child so many years ago, but especially tonight, witnessing my son in such deep emotional and spiritual pain, turning to alcohol and not realizing how much worse that is making his pain, praying every night he won't hurt himself and praying every morning it will be the day he gets help. I would take it all, if I could. Our family just lost my granddaughter's mother, who was 34 years old, who had different circumstances but the same self-destruction with alcohol to try to "fix" her pain. Is there anything harder than having to stand by and watch those you love more than your own life in such pain and be so helpless? I know we can't fix our loved ones, but if I had just one wish come true, it would be that we could.
