Regine Schumann (Goslar 1961) opens the doors of her home/studio in Cologne and talks about herself in an exclusive interview conducted by Dep Art Gallery.
From her training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig to her time in Rome, following a passion, that for colour, that has never abandoned her, up to the latest experiments of the "Corners" series.
The fulcrum of this research is her home; a space created together with her first husband where light is the protagonist element. Light that on the one hand welcomes the colors, mirror surfaces and transformations of the works and on the other is always a stimulus to continue her research.
Regine Schumann retraces the steps that led her to experiment with fluorescent acrylic glass, and with light, just like a journey through the space of the home; a place that is very dear to her, where art and private life mingle between historical works and new research.
Finally, the artist reflects on the creative processes behind the creation of a new exhibition. What fascinates her is the mutability with which her works change, combined however with the awareness she has of what the final effect will be each time
