Tawanda your inspiring me to leave my staff RN job. I'm definitely underpaid any advice if the majority of my experience is in long-term care. I want to have financial freedom but its difficult with my current income. I love geriatrics but need more $.

Hey Joy😊 I also love geriatrics. I left LTC to gain experience and increase my income. You can always apply to jobs in an area you are interested in. You’ll need to make your resume more diverse. This will make you more marketable, and in turn increase your income. You’ll always get more money down the street, lol😊

I used to do hospice which is pretty similar to home health but I moved to a new area when I purchased my home and I'm afraid that the hospice/home health agencies over here are smaller and the patients will be spread out (having me driving crazy distances). Can you do a video on how to choose a company?

The 6k number is your GROSS. You grossed that amount. The amount you take home after taxes/deductions is the NET. Great video though! Really appreciate your pay transparency. Can you do a video comparison of your earnings in home health as an LPN vs RN? That would be interesting to see 🤔

Hey! Thanks for sharing. I’m new to home health. Any tips for prepping meals? Lunch box suggestions? I’m already sick of eating fast food constantly 😅

Hi Sonya, let me about this one🤔 I actually do intermittent fasting when I’m in the field. In the past I would just take a sandwich cut in fours for easy access, fruit, and a granola bar/trail mix. I think it’s a good idea to keep it simple and light because we are sorta sedentary with all the driving we do. Sorry for the delay, my notifications was off on certain content. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for watching 😊

Hi Tawanda! As an admissions nurse do you perform treatments as well or are are you mostly assessing and writing the plan of care. Thanks for sharing, i love that nursing is so flexible.

Hey!! 95% of the time assess, educate, and create. This is greatly because the companies I work for mainly manage post-op patients. They surgical dressing typically is charged 5-7 days post-op. Therefore, the following nurse and sometimes the physical therapist removes the surgical dressing. I will perform a dressing change if it’s soiled. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching ❤️

Hey! Just wanted to ask...about approximately how long do you spend with each pt? And how is the home care company able to determine the amount to be paid for that visit? I am an RN and thinking about making the switch but only see jobs for around $40 /hr for home health...and what about gas and mileage? Thank you!
@AccordingToTawanda

Hi, great question! Example: I get paid per point. At one company my point rate is $85.00. A SOC/Admission at that company is 2.5 points. Therefore, my SOC rate is $212.50. We get reimbursed for mileage. My mileage reimbursement goes to my 401K. My average in home time is 45 minutes. I’m able to complete about 50% of my charting during that time. Let me know if this answers your questions. Thanks for watching😊

Hi Kandy, to be an admissions nurse you definitely have to be a Registered Nurse. You would benefit from being a case manager in home health. The most important thing is being trained in the OASIS documentation process. Let me know if this answers your question.
