I rehomed 10 Year old Homers before all I did was pull all their flights on one wing so that they can’t fly and let them roam freely around My yard until their wing grows back which takes approximately one month however I have to say that a few of them still visited their old loft from time to time but they always slept in My loft.

I’ve always read and heard that homers will always go back to their old loft but I was able to rehome a couple year old homers. Maybe bad bloodline or idk 🤷♂️. I know that where I got them from was about a 20 min drive north of me and the guy had a shed coop but he never let them out once. Of the 4 I got, I kept them prisoners for about 5 months and each pair laid eggs twice. Finally opened the loft and let them venture out, 1 flew away right away, 1 went to the trees and came back in during feed time, did this a couple times then took off, and the other 2, I still have.

Great Job! I’m sure most of them will be rehomed by the time their flights grow back.

Very nice work my friend. I glad you did not lose any birds. When pulling the last 3 flights really helps on keeping them there until lean where home is.

The last time I pulled three flights I let them stay in for a good month but this is a totally different story. But I think it should work out if the hawks can stay away. Poor things have no defense.

Yes I’m excited about it also. Just hope I have enough time to train them properly. The guys at the club say that I have enough time but I never tried to train birds so quickly. We’ll see what happens

You could always have let them out with one or two of your own old birds. What up with some of their tails?
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
Жыл бұрын
Eventually they will be with my other birds but for now I’m not really wanting them to fly. At the beginning of the video I mentioned I pulled the tail feathers on half of them as an experiment to see if it would help. Thanks for asking
