When removing the stock 325i exhaust manifolds all but 2 of my studs came out, locked to the nuts with rust. After cleaning and separating the nuts and studs they were ready to go back in. Due to the studs being fully threaded they can be a bit of a pain to reinstall and in this video I go through an easy way to do so.
If you do plan on installing headers on your 323/325/328/330i, I have found that removing the front bumper and crash bar/rad cradle from the car helps a ton and it can easily be done in less than an hour. I have a video on how to do so here: • Removing BMW E46 Front...
Note: You can see that I also have the rad out of the car (for other reasons) but there is no need to remove it as it is far enough out of the way.
