Kapelle Εκκλησία Άγιος Γεώργιος auf deutsch Kirche St. Georg
A journey to the Greek island of Leros via Kos and Kalymnos. Flight from Hamburg to the island of Kos. Overnight stay there. The next morning, take a fast ferry to Leros island with a stop at Kalymnos port.
Next day: Today we explore the "entire north of the island". Blefoutis Bay, Paralia Agia Kioura.
Next day: In the morning again in the north west of the airport, but unfortunately the dirt road did not end at the beach, but in front of an army gate. The nearest access to the sea was at Kokkali. Suddenly the chapel of Agios Isidoros lay in the sea in front of us. Unplanned and therefore surprising. But there was no beach there. We found this at the end of the bay of Gourna. But dark, fine sand and therefore cloudy water, which didn't bother the many Greeks. On the east side of Gournes Bay we found tamarisk trees with shade, clear water and calm.
Next day: The south of the island around Xirokampos was explored. This is the only place where drone footage is officially allowed. Theoretically... But there was such a strong wind that filming with the drone was unthinkable.
Next day: In the morning the town of Lakki with its many small shops (really Greek - no folklore...), coffee neons, gyros taverns... Bought for the next lunch on the beach: bread, hard sausage, goat's cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes. Then looked for a leeward secluded bay near Bromolithos and actually found it. Chapel Εκκλησία Άγιος Γεώργιος in German Church of St. George
Next day: First to the ferry terminal of Agia Marina, look out for the ferry options. Maybe a day trip to another island is possible. Then continued walking to the headland and discovered a historic ruin. Really discovered!!! Neither "Maps", nor "OSM", nor Wikipedia have heard of it. Reported to Maps right away, I'm a "Google Local Guide"... Lunch gyros pita on the side of the road, then to Xirokampou to the chapel "Panagia Kavouradena". (The tradition (short form) says: Fischer finds an icon on rock, but is pinched bloody by crab. At night, in a dream, holy woman says: Build a chapel at the site of discovery. He promises, hand is healed.) We checked today - chapel is standing.
