I We just got married in October. She's 53 and I'm 65. Dated exclusively for seven years. We're working on her visa now. I'm not worried about america changing her. Well stay here for around five years and sell the house which is already paid for and maybe get a small place somewhere in the US and go to the Philippines for half the year. Who knows. Probably just rent there and go to different places each time since neither of us has seen different places in the Philippines. We are both traditional in our lives. Neither of us like going out and crowds etc. I live in a rural area here and she has never driven and never will. She won't even get on a bicycle. We both love the simple life. It helps to really know the woman you marry and it's just as important that a Filipina know the man she marry's.

@@woodspirit98 I think the risks are lower the older the people are . I think once she is above 40 the risk goes down a lot . I was married to a Filipina American and engaged to another. Once they are second generation they become much more American even if raised by first generation. The younger the Filipina and the larger the age gap , the higher the risk , just my observation but haven’t done research on it . Some of the endearing qualities get lost by the second generation. Actually hearing that a lot of developing countries are becoming more American like , where the young women no longer know how to cook. No big deal but simply an observation. Times are a changing .

Important topic to carefully consider. Since the 90s when I first brought my fiance to USA. I quickly learned about Filipina interaction, they love to hate each other and backbite. To a workplace with 10 or more Filipinos, all competing who got the new jewelry to got the new car. Major fights to-the-point the boss had to take one of their guns away. I don't really see the value in indoctrination of your Filipino to other Filipinos, I quickly viewed it as destructive and more drama than our marriage could handle. My wife being young and bossed around by a senior Filipina it was ridiculous. Very jealous small-minded and telling her to go home and change clothes because she was too sexy. I noticed the older Filipinos were much more loyal and would stay with their eighty-year-old husband. Well three out of three couples all of them dumped their original husband, replaced with younger more money and taller American man. Three out of three that I know and includes my own X. The bottom line is it really depends on your Filipina but after what I've seen I doubt if I would bring Filipina to USA🙏🙏

I worked with a Filipina woman in the US a few years ago. Her husband was an elderly American probably in his late 70's and they had been married for around 15 years. She was in her late 30's very attractive. She was constantly screwing around with guys at work. She hit on me a few times but I turned her down since am married with kids. Not willing to lose my family for some easy casual sex. But plenty of guys married and single took the opportunity. No idea what their marriage was like, maybe it was an open relationship. Just sad thinking about that.

She is spot on Paul. My Filipina wife spent over 11 years in the USA with me(K1) and we have been married for 14 years and now retired in the Philippines. Over half of the filipino community that we hung out with 50% of the young filipinas LEFT their older husbands to find new younger American men. During our time in America, the Filipino community is not perfect by any means. The experience that I had with over 12 filipino/American couples that we met, seemed that the older the Filipina, the more she stayed with her American husband. Each Filipina is Different with an agenda, motives, and goals. Their main purpose is to WORK to send money back to the Philippines for their family-------bbbbbbbut there are other reasons. I seen some horror stories that I could share, but it would be a BOOK. If I could do it all over again-------------in my experience----------I wished I would have never brought my Filipina to America but that is MY opinion of my situation.

Loved the comment and agree with the statement expressed. The only difference is I haven't found the same percentage in the filipina group my wife hangs with. They all seem to care about who they married. Some of the ladies in my opinion stay out with their friends a bit later then I would like for my taste. Seems to me some of the husbands the ladies are married to here cause that late night mentality to happen by not treating their wifes as equals. IE the women have their money and the husbands have their own money.

It's nice to hear a good stories of mixed race marriages like hers. Her story is good and sounds like she is successful with life being married to American . In reality, not all Filipina are looking for a foreign husband or Bf. I am born Filipina and married to an American, I've lived in America since in my teens, and yes I am very Americanized as you would say. But, my heart is still Filipino and respect the culture there, and I go back at least twice a year to be with my Filipino families and friends. Respect and learning the boundary works for any foreign marriages, it has nothing to do if you are Americanized or not. What makes it bad for Filipino are those foreigners who exploit them. I think the cost of airfare takes the Snowbird aspect right out of it for me. I wouldn’t want to fly home once a year and spend a lot of money on airfare maybe once every two years. If I had a Filipino girlfriend or a Thai girlfriend to take her home for vacation that would be fine but to stay no way . I want out of this high dollar society / rat race!!!

I think 3 things are kind of the determining factor. And frankly this is true in countries where divorce is allowed. Does each person feel like they are accomplishing goals. Does each person feel loved and respected. Does each person feel financially secure. Often times for a Filipina feeling financially secure also means some family at home. If you check off those 3 things, other things tend to be more trivial and easier to deal with. In the US I think divorce is higher for people who lived in the US than it is for a couple where one comes from the PH and the other is from the US. I do believe those are the numbers I saw in the past. I also believe a person is happier when their working, in general, because they're contributing.

In my country in west Europe, bullying at the workplace is punishable so that's already a big discouragement via the system and it's taken very seriously. The only thing I worry about is when a happily married woman (of any nationality) has female friends that are single or unhappy... They tend to project their negative energy over to the one that is happy. So one day when that happy woman has a minor bump in the road of her marriage, she would get encouraged by the negative women around her, basically get emotionally manipulated to make something minor into a big issue. Ladies... When you are happily married please AVOID friends that are single! regardless of where you came from. Unhappy women do not like Happy women around them they will try to bring them down their unhappy situation any chance they can get.

There may be reasons behind the stereotypes, but the exceptions are numerous and we shouldn't be too hasty to generalize. My Filipina wife and I have been together for 44 years. She has only sparingly sent money back home since our marriage (much less than I would be willing to), and I have tried to "Filipinize" myself in language, culture, and food as much as she has Americanized. This is something to where you need to look at statistical data and make some judgements because in the case of divorce or a wife leaving a husband, the numbers don't lie. I believe it is the case that if a citizen of the US marries a citizen of the US (trying to keep race out of it but race matters), you are more likely to get divorced than if you marry an Asia woman and bring her to the US, but as in everything else, the country she comes from matters as does her upbringing. For instance, in Catholic Philippines there is no divorce. There are plenty of Filipino women from this background regardless of how devout they are, are not going to want a divorce, or go looking for another man, etc..... I think it matters if the woman works. I think Filipino women who work and are part of bringing in the money that helps make the household run correctly makes a difference. I think it matters if they feel their family in the PH is being taken care of. I think it matters how you treat your wife. For instance I don't feel it's very likely that a Filipino woman leaves a husband when they feel loved, AND they feel financially secure. On the other hand if you marry a Filipina that came from a broken family and ended up working in clubs and was a prostitute, there's a better chance that her morals are very different. She might not know how to work a regular job or even want to, etc.......................... In other words, people are people. Most people are happy when they feel like they're accomplishing something. But that's often not enough. People need to feel secure in a relationship and feel like a person cares for them. AND, they need to feel financially secure. So, it would be my guess that statistically this will show up in the numbers for failed marriages. I think it would be incredibly rare that a woman from the PH leaves a marriage when they feel they are accomplishing goals, feel loved, and are financially secure. As I said in another video about this topic, my wife has been in the US for 16 years and the only reason she says for wanting to go back home is to spend time with her mom before her mom dies. It's not about happiness or anything else. She's quite content working here in the US, building up a decent amount of money for here SS and in fact has said that she will probably stay in the US for a year or two still working after we have our home built in the PH. We have land there and will build a pretty nice home that can hold more than just me and her. But my wife comes from a Catholic background, was an OFW before we met, and even though her job can be a little stressful, which I talk to her about along with many discussions about how Americans would deal with situations because acting like a Filipino in the US doesn't work very well depending on your job, especially where you have to manage people, she STILL likes her job. But she also makes good money so we're financially secure and she contributes to her family back home and it's not a trivial amount. And I'm not debating with her the amount she sends because it's money SHE made. So, I hope this is helpful. I don't think it makes any difference if you bring an Asian woman to the US. I see couples in the area we live where I know they've been together for decades, but I've also had my wife talk about a couple women who left their marriages. Sure, of course. Statistically it's going to happen. Don't bring a woman to the US though and think you're going to control them. That's just stupid.

One of the worst mistakes I have made in my 73 years. We met online. I visited her in Samar several times. I was her hero, she was my queen. Got fiancee visa, married. Wonderful wife, I was her hero, she was my queen. large age gap. She went to work. I noticed she began wearing make up, false eyelashes. I teased her, as she always said she was a "simple" Filipina, didnt like jewelry or make up.Her reply was she wanted to fit in, I watched the corruption slowly progress. Long story short, I went from heroic white knight to common old man. Her friends did not approve. 10 days after she got her permanent green card she went to "visit" friends. I havent seen her since. We're divorced. When it was good it was real good, but I think it was unrealistic. God bless her...

Back in my days we marry for love (been married for 36 years) and I really haven't seen or known of a Filipina who marry for US passport. There's one young Filipina in our community who cheated on her husband and got divorced and I do know that there are a handful who married Americanos and petitioned their kids (from their former Filipino husbands) to come here in the US. Other than that, most of us Filipinas where I am are married and are staying married (forever) to the same guy. So where did this idea of "Don't bring your Filipina to the US or else....? Is it the new norm now?

So based on those odds, where 8 out of 20 guys were jerks, and 10 out of 20 gals wanted out of the marriage, maybe its not the Philippina's fault because they've become 'too Americanized' after all. If we set aside the 10 out of 20 couples who are still together, that says 8 out of the 10 remaining couples are apart because the guys were jerks. Great questioning, Paul. If you want to increase your odds of a happy marriage then look carefully for your Filipina. If you want to find that one in a million woman then be willing to talk in depth to a million women. Yes in some cases the Filipina who came to America or whatever country was not of great moral character but some of those 50% who were not were changed by the western mind set. If your good Filipina is hanging around westernized Filipinas then you have a chance of her being corrupted. If a person hangs around communists there is a chance that they will become a communist. The better morals and character of your Filipina the better chance of you being happy. I would say the same to the Filipina watching this. Both parties need to choose very wisely. When I first went online to begin the search for my future mate I made it very clear I didn’t want to date anyone under the age of 30 and that my intention was to work a few more years here in the states, and then retire there. I didn’t want anybody having any undue expectations about coming to America and living a life of luxury because that was never going to be the case. I also stated I don’t mind if she had any children, especially if their father was not involved in their lives. I wanted to avoid that type of competition if I could. When I met my now wife, we chatted and video called for over a year before I was ever able to come to the Philippines due to Covid. During that time we really got to know each other pretty well, but obviously meeting in person can change that dynamic substantially. For us, the change was that our relationship Improved even more to the point where I married her four months after meeting her for the first time in person. I will never regret that day because she is the best woman I’ve ever had in my life and her 10-year-old daughter is the child I’ve always wanted in my life as well. She never knew her father but to her I am dad and it melts my heart every time she says it. Eventually, we’re going to settle in Dumaguete or Valencia and when we do it, I will look you up so we can have some lunch together!

The conclusion I draw from this, plus 42 years of marriage to a Filipina, is that people are people, always and everywhere, and while there's a lot to work out in any relationship in order for it to be fruitful, being a good judge of character on the part of both parties is paramount -- especially when the average courtship is so short, as far as physical time together. My wife and I met in May, were married in September, and in that already-short courtship we were physically together for a grand total of 45 days. That is a recipe for disaster, unless one's intentions are pure and one has been able to size up another's character in pretty short order. My wife and I both had different motivations for marrying -- some were pure, some were pragmatic -- and it made for a rough first couple of years of marriage. Why wouldn't it? We didn't know each other well enough at all, and there were plenty of moments when we were questioning ourselves and the decision we made. It was only after the kids started coming that the light went on for both of us, because the focus was no longer on what each of us was getting out of this relationship and was squarely turned on our children and providing for their future. It was the first time we were on the same page, and it reminds me of that old adage, "Love doesn't consist of two people looking at each other, it consists of two people looking together in the same direction." At that point we learned a great deal about each other, and only then did we really click. Not too many marriages can last 42 years after a tenuous 4-month courtship, so I recognize that our marriage was probably not representative of the average American/Filipino marriage; but it comes close. The Filipino culture dictates that marriage is forever, and on that my wife and I agreed and were totally committed, no matter the difficulty. Character matters; choose wisely.

She is right there is every flavor of Filipina in the states which is why if you are too lazy or don't care to get to know your intended then you get what you have or have not worked for. Some do only want to get there and if you can't see that and work with that than what happens is on you. I can say my wife can now collect her own SS, buy her own car, built houses for her parents and brothers, preparing to build our retirement house and we are still together and she still goes to church and still loves her culture. Oh and she did all that just working labor or manual jobs. I can go on but you need to put some work into and respect into your relationship. Don't get too hung up on the numbers because they can be changed.

Think about this guys. In the Phils., even Expats with "average looks and income by American standards" may make you a real "catch" or even "prize" to many Filipinas when in the Phils. This probably helps keep your Filipina "on her toes" so to speak. However, as soon as you take her to the States, she'll quickly see you're not a "catch" to American women, but rather, an unremarkable, under-achieving chump. Add to that her suddenly being approached by better-looking, richer American guys and you've got a sure-fire recipe for disaster, because she now believes she's "the prize" that deserves better (just like most American women do).

It is a simple matter, if a woman is educated, comes from a well off family most anywhere in the world, why in the world would she chose to be with a guy 20 years older than her? Let's not flatter or delude ourselves guys. How many of you ex-pat guys can attract a woman in our own countries who are 20 years or more younger than us? Why? Let's look at the lifestyles of the woman who look abroad for a spouse rather than married i a guy in their own country? Are they financially independent? Are they well educated, or have sustainable resources? It's usually about the fact that women married up...can a future mate offer security in order to raise a family, educate and cloth dependents, be trustworthy, etc. I have lived in PI since 2008, can communicate in Binisaya, observed various social and economic relationships. I have been married to a Filipina since the 1980s, met her and married in USA, have an age difference of 9 years. One should be able to judge character of our future mates, and look at our own selves before we commit. If we are betrayed by our spouse, there is always two sides. Viva Filipinas! For me, I wanted a partner/wife/soulmate, not one who needs her family nearby, but has the capacity to have my back as I have hers! Have had that for 38 years, and yes she was way wealthier than I when we met so long ago!

Hi Paul! Recently I have been to the Philippines for about half a year (including Dumaguete) and as a western guy you can roughly pick whatever you fancy. That is a bit exaggerated but you can get a very nice girl. But I have seen guys walk around over there with age gaps of 25 plus years. If you go to the west like that it is a recipe for disaster in my opinion. If you intend to take your filipina to the west (and I do not recommend it) make sure that you are also an acceptable partner for western standards for your lady. That way no western guy or woman will influence your lady with words like: "Why don't you get yourself a guy that is more suitable age-wise?". So as a guy going to the Philippines... just do not be selfish by getting yourself a girl that is half your age or younger. If guys would do that everyone would be better of. I am 42 and my filipina I met half a year ago is 30 years old. I think we'll be fine regardless of where we decide to live. TY!

The magic question and answer in the entire conversation was, Paul: "And you mainly had Filipino friends and very few American friends?", Answered - yes. In other words western woman's liberal ideas did not get much of a chance to take root. She remained in the Filipino culture while overseas. So she stayed the same person he fell in love with. And they are both happy and still married. If she becomes westernised, she will loose attitude towards life and values that you valued in her when you first met. So if you intend to bring back your Filipina to the west - choose carefully and beware. Better if possible to stay and migrate to the Philippines in my opinion. But, very interesting interview Pau. :)

Most Filipina with American friends, they tell them “Oh, you don’t have to do that here, this is America.” But they laugh and say among themselves “This is why there are so many divorce in America.” The older Filipina here tell them to keep their Philippine culture with them and treat their husbands well. For the most part, the Filipina American divorce that I have seen is because the guy is an a hole, or they got married for the wrong reasons in the first place. When I was looking for a Filipina wife, I looked for someone compatible with me. We are still together for 18 years now. I’m working on retiring and moving there. My Filipina wife found a good group here in the US, and that has really helped.

Also can depend on age gap, etc. If its pretty big, can be worse, unless the guy is so old she's near to collect...😅 If the guy is younguish, has a good situation etc, ofc odds are better. My Wife and I will be married 5 years in August. Joanne has lived here five years. Within 5 years we will move permanently to the Philippines. Joanne has about five good local friends here from the Philippines, they have all lived here about the same amount of time. Only one has a bad marriage, I know both the husband and Wife. He is very controlling and disrespectful to her.

Married my Nicaraguan wife, brought her to the US, and we recently retired abroad ( leaving our 4 daughters and 10 grandkids behind 😂). We are very happily married , both worked very hard for many years, and are spending the next 4-5 years traveling the globe in search of our favorite retirement city. The US does not ruin all of them.

How did she get over here in eight months. I married a Filipina.16 months ago. And we are still waiting on the paperwork and have not heard nothing. We are going to Christian Filipina dating site. And I have already paid all the fees and paid Homeland security$530 to do the paperwork. And now that everybody has gotten their money it doesn't seem like I get any help from anybody.

Hi Paul. I'm a silent viewer. Filipino living in Metro Manila. I see an influx of foreigners here in the mall, senior ones and mostly travelling alone. For sure I know they are familiar of you as one of the top youtubers for expats. I hope I can send you an email, on how to avoid scams in Metro Manila, and what apps to download, what people/services to avoid, etc. I hope you can discuss that to your subscribers as part of their check list. It saddens me that there are still some who got scammed knowing they are using their lifetime savings coming here to check our country. Trust me I can see few homeless foreigners in Manila, Baguio. I feel like they don't deserve it. There are also news right now that foreigners are getting charged/jailed for the killing of their partners due to misrepresentation that they are single, or deported due to overstaying. Continue what you do Paul, you are a big help to alot of seniors out there. You, Mark and the others. I enjoy listening to you.
