I managed to pick up two of the 6 round wrapid loaders. The idea is brilliant. The execution is mediocre. One problem is learning a new way to reload your revolver. When I reload, I typically use my right hand to load the revolver while my left hand supports the cylinder. You can't really efficiently use the wrapid loader this way especially since the last step of the load requires the cylinder to be able to spin as you pull the loader off the rounds. If you learn to reload with you strong hand never leaving the grip you run into the same problem some moon clips suffer from. The rounds are only held by the rim and don't hang straight. Sometimes it takes some fiddling to get all the rounds aligned with all the cylinder chambers. In addition they are difficult to load and place in the leather holders. I was faster with a traditional speed loader and almost as fast with a strip. I still like the idea. Maybe the product will be improved over time.

It is still basically a boutique product, although with how popular it appears to be, I don't expect that to remain true for that much longer. Price isn't much more than a good quality speed loader too, so as they get production up (if they do), then I would expect the price to come down more and hopefully for the design to improve.

Good point. You can't tell in the demo, but I assume it has leaf springs doing the work. You'd have to watch the joint connections too. If they are too tight, it won't work, but if they loosen from wear, it will be a pain to get aligned with the cylinder. I guess it comes down to how well they are made. Of course that could make them cost more too.

A lot of people dislike speed loaders because they've only ever used a low quality one. Good speed loaders hold the bullet firmly while cheap ones let the bullets wiggle a lot making aligning the rounds to the cylinder a challenge under adrenaline. The Wrapid loader looks like one of the good ones (at least from the demonstration you showed us).

Loader, Loader and Loader. Moon clips suck, good for competition but not for carry. Speed strips are dependent on coordination when adrenalin is pumping. Speed loaders are big enough not to fumble, a good one works great. Better one second slower and 6 new rounds than trying to Jerry Miculek a bent moonclip. That's my 2 cents. Haven't watch the video, let me see if Yankee has similar thoughts.

You have raised a very valid point: Is having more ammo on your person a good idea? Well, yes....in theory. Realistically: maybe.... An old friend who was a bonded courier always carried, laws permitting. His EDC? A Beretta in .25 ACP.....how much ammo? His was, if I recall, a 7+1 in the flip up barrel. I once remarked that this seemed like a kind of small gun, and limited ammo. His reply was priceless: if somebody tries to take whatever I'm carrying in that Halliburton briefcase, and the issue has not yet been settled, and I'm out, than he felt that the basic plan was faulty....

I was excited about these as well. But when I finally got my hands on them (I ordered two of the 6-round variety) a couple days ago, I was very disappointed. In a nutshell, they don't work well at all ... in fact, my personal experience is that they don't work at all. Loading up the Wrapids is a major pain ... tolerances are not right. And if you are able to force your rounds into the Wrapid, and you are able to get them to line-up with your cylinder chambers ... well, in my case, the Wrapid would not completely release all the rounds, getting caught up on the last one, ultimately jamming up the whole works. As expensive as they are, I am of course requesting to return them for a refund. 😒 If they respond positively and professionally, I will update this post accordingly.

The 5 loader sucks. Too unstable to match up with the already dinky 5 cylinder. The manufacturer even says they’ll go halfway in. It requires tons of practice. Imagine doing it under pressure. The 6 shot one is ok, but it’s unstable too. And the guy sent me a wrong one and wouldn’t respond to my email. Lesson learned. The “pouch” can carry 365 magazines, so it wasn’t a total loss. Please don’t waste your money.
@whelper4231
8 ай бұрын
I am trying to figure out what you are saying here. The rounds only go halfway into the chambers? That's how speed loaders work normally. Once they are released they fall into the cylinder. The stability issue could be from the loose joints in the mechanism. Or is it not holding the rounds well enough? By the way it was pulled free in the demo clip, I assume the latter, but it could be both.
@grbdevnull5611
8 ай бұрын
@@whelper4231 The body of a traditional speed loader probably doesn't need as much of the round in the cylinder chamber since they are just released to slide into the cylinder. There really isn't force acting on them in any direction (or, if it is a spring loaded loader, that force is pushing them in the desired direction). With this, there would be at least some sideways pressure from pulling the loader free, so I can see where having the rounds half way in might be a bigger issue. The sideways pressure might be enough to pull a round out of the chamber if you are already teetering at or near the point of balance.

@@whelper4231 the joints don’t have enough strength against torsional forces and they sag and let the rounds point in all directions. At least speed loaders have some depth to the walls so that the rounds are all pointed in the same direction and with even spacing. This thing allows the tips to be spaced all over the place. So, while you can get 3 or 4 in correctly, there will be 1 or 2 banging against the star. I can load speed strips faster.
